In the early 1990s, I was at a gunshow with my father-in-law. He bought this revolver for $179. It was a law enforcement turn in. Years later, I bought this revolver from my FIL. I believe it is a first year Model 67. It originally had ugly Hogue grips, that I replaced.

with a serial number the tribe can approximate ship date better.. but it does have the stainless sights that were discontinued fairly early in production...
mine is 5K526XX approximately 1973

From some distant memory and without looking, I think the stainless sights were only around for 1-2 years.

If you like K frames like I do, the Model 67 4 inch heavy barrel is probably the pinnacle of design for the frame without overstressing it.

It has all of the attributes of a Model 15, but it is made in more indestructible stainless.

The 67 was made in only one barrel weight and only one length (4"). The hard-to-see-in-bright-sunlight SS color sights went away after a couple years. The same sights were also used on early 66's. What S&W did with the matte stainless rear sights was to go to a black matte finish. They will be marked on the underside with a "S".

The 67 (and 15) are an excellent carry revolver, especially with the grips that fit your hand while firing and in a holster suitable to your needs. The 67 and model-marked 15's do fine with 38 Spl. +P.

A K frame .38 Special revolver.

Everything that you need and nothing that you do not in a defensive revolver. I am partial to the adjustable sight models the 15 and the 67. But the fixed sight model tens and 64s are just fine. My wife sports a model 64 as her car gun. Just what the doctor ordered.

Just gotta love a Mod 67 of any vintage! Mine has the S/S rear sights (it's a "No Dash" edition) and they are a bit distracting in bright sunshine. My Mod 15 takes over if'n the "lights too bright"! LOL!
Either way, they're sisters and I hope to continue to enjoy them for a long time to come!

While it is true that the Model 67 only came in one barrel style there was a wide rib heavy barrel version in the 67-3, the wide rib version in blue is the 15-5.

If you'd like to see one go to this thread and scroll down to post 81 on page 2.
Some Combat Masterpiece eye candy

Best Duty Revolver I ever carried. Wish I still had it……

Here you go and it is just up the road from you. It is in great shape except for a little rash on the bottom of the grip & frame.

I hope Bill Jordan will forgive me for saying I believe most Models 19 & 66 were actually 38 Spls with deeper chambers. The average LEO was much more likely to carry 38s than 357s, so in point of fact the Models 15 & 67 were really what most folks would “need”. I sure wish I hadn’t sold that 67 project gun I bought and couldn’t use at that time. I really should have kept it!

I haven't seen my M67 in years since my wife adopted it and gave it a home in her nightstand.
