S&W N-Frame Grips on a L-Frame

They kind of remind me of the factory wood grips Sig sometimes uses. Very, very nice looking on both the Sigs and Smiths.

Just got my mail...Instead of the grips got a card saying they are back ordered. Called and canceled order. Will wait for Midway USA to get them.

GJS,

Thats odd. I just talked to the Sales/Customer Service last week & they had 200 sets. If you like perhaps call S&W ask for Wayne & order them with a Credit Card. Best of luck. Midway.. etc will never get them in.

Thats odd, thats what I did 5 days ago. Today I got the mail saying back ordered. Talked to Smith and they said they were in a warehouse and had no idea when they could get them. Have already gotten passed this and found another approach. Thanks for your post.

GJS,

Yup, i had ordered another set last week myself & today i got the same "Card" in the Mail. Last week when i called them they said they had 200 sets. Today after getting "The Card" i again called S&W. They told me they had "frozen" the stock of these particular grips due to a run on them. They have them in stock but can't sell them because they're going on some production guns. Be a couple weeks before they get an order in from their supplier.

Spoke with the S&W's Supplier thereafter, and was advised that they were shipping another quantity of the grips to S&W during the first week of November, 2010. So hopefully we should be hearing from our back orders in a couple weeks.

As one poster mentioned Altamont grips, I called them...Talked to the person "in charge". These grips do not exist anymore... We can make new one somewhat like them and for only $62. I asked the obvious question as to why they went from $48 to $62. He explained to me that they were never $48. I countered by saying that is what they charged my credit card. I informed "the man in charge", thanks but no thanks. What seemed like a very simple thing ended up stinking like hell.

I just got my grips from S&W and noticed they had a decent size chunk out of the corner of the grip, S&W was great about taking them back, but I just hope I don't have to wait for their next batch to be ready before I get another pair.

Mine arrived last night and I like em. Alot! When I placed the order 10 days ago they were down to two pairs, so I snatched a set for my 3" 657. Screw was too long but was an easy fix.

Pics don't do em justice. My only complaint is the backstrap is not flush with the grips, but I'm still a happy camper. Don't think many 210 gr. Speer Gold Dots will get shot with these as they are on the thin side but feel great and pack well:). Puma mini stilletto has a whopping two inch + blade.

Thanks exfebee for turning us onto these babies. I should have ordered two sets!

S&W should give you a discount for the free advertising. You singlehandily made them some serious money in a very short period of time. I'll testify to that fact:)!

Those really look good. The "thin-ness" of the grips don't seem to be a factor for me when shooting 357. So far i've shot over 400 rounds of straight 357 & its eating them up like crazy. Love the 627-5 PC & could shoot it all day. The pair of these grips on my 686-4 snubby also makes 357 not bad either. Best of luck.

Thanks Carl. If it weren't for you I would not have these fine grips. I'll be shooting the 657 tomorrow evening with the Gold Dots. I love the feel of them babies. Best grip feel I've ever felt on a S&W. We'll see how it does with some full power magnums going down the pipe and the associated flame at night. Always draws an ear and eyes on the firing line:)! It is a handful compared to my 686 with 158 gr. Gold Dots. Love them Gold Dots and my new grips!

I ordered three sets last Friday (29 Oct) and was told that all available sets were in the "fitting room", I guess being fitted to production revolvers. I wonder which new Ns they are going on.
At any rate, I was told I could expect to see my order in two to three weeks. Now to decide whether to use them on my 3 inch 629, 625, and 657 or try them on my Mountain Guns. Thanks again exfebee for letting us know about these grips.

Thanks, exfebee

Many thanks to exfebee for informing everyone about these fine grips. I just received mine today and they look and feel great on my 325PD. Can't wait to try them out. Great quality and handle very well.
Love this forum!

Was at the local dealer today and noticed a 686+ limited run from Lew Horton. It had a 3-inch barrel barrel, unfluted cylinder, and grips that looked just like the ones in this thread except they were black. Maybe they are making them for K,L frames. I don't know for sure if they are the exact same size and shape but they look pretty close.

Finally broke down and decided to order some of these. I called S&W and were told that they were in stock, so I ordered a pair. Not sure what the status was last time any of you checked, but if you wanted some and they werent available, you may want to check.

Well I got the grips today, they are much better than the hogue wood grips I had on the 629. Sorry about the pics, they were taken with my phone.

Ordered mine 10/14/10 and they came in to my dealer last week. So that's what, like 12-14 weeks minus Christmas?

Guesss I need to order another pair today huh?

/c

Chuck.. glad you got yours. Sorry they took "a month of Sundays" to get to ya. If you order on a Credit Card straight from the factory its a shorter time. I've ordered 4 so far & only once went on back-order. Most came in a couple weeks. Good luck.
