What do you do with your S&W N Framed revolvers. Do you go after all the calibers or do you just have a few? Blue frames, nickel frames or stainless revolvers what's your choice??

Which s&w n frame caliber do you prefer?

Which barrel length???

Which finish is it?

Ok, here are my answers.

1. .38, .357 mag, .41 mag, .44 special, .44 mag, .45 acp, .45 colt
2. The 4" barrel is by far my favorite barrel length.
3. Nickel is my favorite finish.

I do have other barrel lengths, and I do have other finishes. I just like N frames.

I'm not sure where you are going with this question in terms of shooting or collecting because they have different answers. If you are asking about shooting than my answer is pick the caliber and barrel length you like to shoot and buy them like a 4 inch 357 magnum 28-2 or a 6 inch 44 magnum model 629 or 29-2.

If you question is from a collector stand point then pick the rarest in the best condition you can afford preferably with all the goodies meaning box or presentation case, paperwork, tools. These would be like a 6.5 inch 29-2 Dirty Harry Special or a 4 inch 27-2 or 3.5 inch 27-2 are they are hot sellers.

I shoot Steel Challenge competition with this N frame M&P 327 R8.

I have eight shots to hit five plates. It will get your heart pumping.

As most have posted .357, .41 mag, .44 mag, .45 acp, and .45 Colt. If I own it I shoot it. I am partial to the 8 3/8" tubes though. Some are blue, some stainless. I just haven't found the right nickel N frame yet.

I notice the S&W N Frame is one of the very few revolvers that comes with grips to fit my hand right brand new out of the box. To the collector and shooter inside of us the S&W N Frame is as important to own as the 1911.
I fell in love with the S&W N Frames a little too late in life but it's better to love and handle it now than not knowing what a great revolver it really is. I got into the smiths because a wanted a S&W K22 for my new grandson. He's 4yo now. He has a nice assortment of 22cal weapons to shoot already.

My favorite S&W N Frames is all of them. From the 357mag to the 45long colt I love them all but I don't have them all yet. The m58/m57 in 41mag are awesome to shoot too. The balance of the N Frames is spot on. The S&W N Frame is one bad ombrey. No one should be without a few.

The loc or hole as some put it doesn't bother me too. I look at the name on the barrel and I'm proud to own it either way. It's the same metal it's been made from for decades. Whether you collect, shoot or just look at them while you drool you should own them.

I like the autos but there just ccw defence pistols. The S&W N Frames still is something special and always will be. S&W was there throughout the old west and still is taking there place today. We're owning a piece of history in every Smith and Wesson we own.

I'm proud to be an American. And my hats off to the ones who gave it there all to keep us free today and the wars in the past. Thank a vet today. For without them we wouldn't be here. Bill

I love N frame snubbies. I have a 657 41 mag in 3" and an M25 Jovino 2" in 45 Colt. I also like the Mountain Guns: I have a 625 in 45acp and a 629 in 44 mag. Then there are the other 45acp guns: 1917, pre25, 25 and 625. Did I leave some out? Oh, I do like the 27 and 28 and 57 and 58. Aside from those I can't think of any reason to own an N frame. Oh I forgot my 29 no dash.

I like em' all.....................provided they're P and R's! My favorite barrel length at the moment is 8 3/8 although I have a 25-2 and a 27-2 with shorter tubes!

I do more K and J frames. I have two N frames. One is a 625JM and the other is 28-2 4 inch. The 625JM is one of my favorite revolver to shoot. I would like to fine other 45ACP N frames. I missed several this year. But at times the hunt is half the fun.

To the collector and shooter inside of us the S&W N Frame is as important to own as the 1911.
I'll take an S&W over a 1911 any day! I cut my teeth on revolvers and the funky, 2-stage recoil of an autoloader feel foreign to me.

My preferences are .44 Special, 45 ACP and .44 Mag. Nothing against the .41 mag & .45 Colt, I just like to keep my reloading & ammo needs simple. I consider the N-frame too big for a .357 unless it's an 8-shooter. If I ever feel the need for an 8-shot .357 (and it's tempting!), I'll pick up a .627.

These are my packin guns (not concealed), so I like 4", but sure wouldn't spit on a 5". I like my N-frames in non-magnum big-bore (over .40) calibers. I'm not a member of the "M-29 will fall apart club", I just prefer SAs for that kind of shooting.

Not sure why I'm answering this as I haven't yet figured out what the OP is looking for.

As someone else said, what I do with them is shoot them.

My favorite caliber is 45 ACP, followed by 38/44 and 44 Special.

Favorite barrel lengths are 3.5" and 5" but will settle for 4" when pushed (LOL).

Prefer blue steel but have owned the occasional stainless gun in this frame size.

Not too big of an N frame guy, so I just have my 6" M28. All my other Smith Revolvers are either K ,L, J, I Frames. I certainly have nothing against N Frames, but I shoot mostly .22 .38/357 (revolvers) and never cared much for the extra bulk or weight of the N in those calibers. The L frame is my "pounder" gun and once in a Blue Moon I do like shooting My M28. I do wish that I had sprung for the M27 at the time as it is a much "prettier" version. Oh well.........

I have most of the N frames. One of my favorites in the model 544 which is a 5 inch 44-40. You do not see to many of these around.

I guess the next best for me would be the model 27's I buy as many of those that I can find and afford.

To me the most aesthetically pleasing is the 4". I've owned .357, .45 Colt & .44mag. I currently have a 4" 629-1, this will never leave me until I don't care about such things any longer.

I like that the cartridge name matches the name of the company so I've been partial to the .44. It's my "back country" gun and all around fun range revolver. Even sees occassional home defense duty.

I believe the 625 in .45 ACP is the best thing going in an N Frame. I have tried most barrel lengths and configurations and I'd have to say the best of these is the Mountain Gun.

A very close second is the 8 shot .357 Magnum. I never really cared for this cartridge until they starting boring the cylinders with 8 holes. That really got my attention. An 8 shot .357 Magnum is a real game changer both in the gun games and on the street.

All I have to compare is my TRR8, Like Sinko said the 8 round .357 just really does it for me...I really love mine! With ZV -G10 grips
