S&W Non-Lock Revolvers

Do all of the current metal framed Bodyguards have the lock?

All the current non-lock models are J frame Centennials:

442-1 and Pro Series
642-1 and Pro Series
640 Pro Series

My EDC, a 340 M&P (centenial model), is a no lock. I'm not comfortable w/a lock on a self defense gun.

If you can’t find the S&W Rev. which you want w/out the internal lock, you could get the model which you want and just re-move the internal lock and put a plug in the hole. (Save the removed part, it can be re-installed for re-sale)

The deactivation of the internal safety, but leaving the appearance of having a lock could be a problem (if someone think that they lock the action, but it is still hot)

642s are an interesting Centennial revolver. The 642 with product code 103810 were no-lock till end of 2001. Then the 642 had the lock till the end of 2007, and then product code 103810 came back; a no-lock 642, from 2008-2015/present. You get a 642 Airweight 38+p rated, 5 shot, alu. frame,SS cylinder and SS barrel, all silver finish (case colored trigger, smooth) 15oz. total weight, genuine S&W revolver with no-lock..and they are available for around $325!

Surprisingly, the rubber stocks are very comfortable, even using +P loads.I can keep 5 rounds of hurried fire in a 3" circle at 20 feet.Out of the box trigger is fine. It's also handsome,in a natural way. No paint. Just metal. Simple to load and fire.No "safeties". Seems to pattern loads close to point of aim. It has a great natural pointability for me. I am very enamored with this model revolver, and at the price, it's an absolute steal. Using 38 Specials,it's a fun plinker! The only way to be proficient with a firearm is to shoot it..often. :)

Its a Centennial model and I haven't checked the factory website, but I believe you can still get the 340 in a non-lock. Not sure if both MP and PD though.
The M&P340 as well as the 340PD are produced without the ILS.
