I'd LOVE to get my hands on a new Number 3 Russian, 6 1/2" barrel with the proper markings and of course in .44 Russian. It would have to have the proper trigger guard as well, the one with the finger support for the middle finger.

I thought that S&W had brought back this model, but I can't find it anywhere. Either I missed it or I'm just mistaken.

Cimarron and Uberti both make them in .44 Russian. Of course, the markings won't be "correct".

It's a shame that they can't be found with the right markings...and no import stamps.

Which one is better, or have you not dealt with both of them?

Didn't S&W once make these; at least for a few years or a limited run?

Not sure if S&W produced any recently. I personally have no direct experience with them, so I can't give you an informed opinion. Cowboy Action Shooters would be the ones to ask as they use a lot of the various replica guns.

For C&R collectors or just shooters/collectors this would be a neat idea to offer a run on the older models that made the company what it is today. Its kind of a give back thing that S&W could do to say thanks to its loyal customers. I'd buy them too. Its a win/win situation for all of us. Bill

BTW; With the C&R collectors market getting stale in the recent years having an offer like this would be a breathe of fresh air to the C&R market. After all its an untapped oppertunity with new reproduction guns of yesteryear from the orginal manufacturer too.

Howdy

Cimarron is an importer, they do not make anything. Uberti makes a replica of the Schofield and the Russian. Cimarron is one of the companies that imports them.
