Very nice pistol. I had the black and stainless CQBs. Just excellent pistols, carried the alloy frame gun for a few years every working day. Never a malfunction of any kind..

I appreciate hearing about actual duty/service of these pistols. I didn’t get mine, (just one,) for carry but that’s probably not uncommon. When I first got a “taste” of them, (Jan/Feb 01 American Handgunner,) I certainly couldn’t get one but I saved the issue.

The centerfold was just gun porn to me and I really needed to hook up with one. As many here know, the ironic thing is, and I’ll repeat myself again, (again,) my/our/everybody’s friend John 18DAI ended up with that very pistol.

As an aside I always wondered why they didn’t come factory with N/S’s. Even the 4567’s did.

I miss John every day. That particular pistol is still being well cared for. 😉

They ARE awesome looking pistols!

Maybe one day yet...

That AH issue is one of many digital back issues I still haven't gotten around to reading yet. :(

It's surprising how few articles they had on 3rd Gens over the years.

Here's a bigger view if you don't mind me re-posting. :)

I still have that HANDGUNNER magazine. I already had my CQBs when that came out, but was glad to read of the PC as it existed at that time, and of course, the CQB pistols. The CQBs were so nice, I just wished I could get a similar PC pistol in 9mm. Then in HANDGUNNER I think, there was a picture of a shooter using a 5906 type I hadn't seen before. Turned out it was one of the PC DPA 5906s. Had to do some digging, but finally acquired DPA 9mms. Life is good.

CQB

Really nice stainless CQB !
In my opinion one of the best pistols ever made. I had the stainless one, the black alloy frame one, and i also had the IDPA 5906. Just great guns from an era that is long gone. Smith can probably make 36 M&P's in the time it would take to make just one CQB.
