With the discussion on Nylon coated bullets there was a question that I wanted to find out about. I know S&W made many calibers of pistol ammo and brass as well as shotshell. Has anyone seen any S&W 25 auto ammo? I have a couple of boxes of S&W 25 auto brass...and some(2000) S&W SPPs. I also have a booklet with reloading data S&W put out ...9s 38s 357s and 44 mag but no data for 25s. Still have some of the first sabot slug rounds they sold... Police rounds but some of the most accurate slugs I ever shot. They had a great duck load in a 2 3/4 in shell too. Either copper or Nickle plated shot. Killed on both ends. Kinda destroyed a S&W 1000 mag semi auto in 1 season guiding waterfowl hunters. Death on ducks

I have owned and shot .25 autos for about fifty years and have never seen any S&W branded .25 auto ammunition. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist however. I think you might find out if you do a bit of research is that S&W never manufactured ammunition, but sold ammo made by others with their name on it. If you want to load your .25 auto brass look to manuals that have data, don't stress over the brand name on your brass.

Skeet 028,

To my knowledge S&W cartridge cases were never offered as a re-loading component in any caliber. If you have any .25 ACP brass it must have come originally from S&W factory loads. My department purchased some ammunition from S&W and I was responsible for ordering. I do not recall seeing .25 ACP listed on their ammunition lists, but this was over 45 years ago! If you have S&W head-stamped .25 ACP cases then obviously they did load it at one time.

I've never loaded 25 auto...don't want or intend to. The ammo S&W sold was loaded by Fiocchi. They bought out Alcan(Approx 1970) and they and Fiocchi went into business but S&W wanted the whole thing or Fiocchi wanted out. But they continued loading for S&W and providing primers etc.. Continued importing powders too. I was a small distributor of S&W shotshell ammo...but didn't sell metallic ammo. Had ro keep records of handgun and 22 ammo back then.. Sold a fair amount of Alcan powders too. I also bought and sold a fair amount of S&W shotguns...especially the S&W1000P/3000 pump. An 870 clone that sold a fair amount cheaper. The S&W 1000 semi was a nice looking semi auto that had a terrible gas system and couldn't handle most ammo. I do think they sold 32 auto ammo though. Just not sure of 25s

I have the cases in white boxes with logo. They were advertised as 50 to a box but that was scratched out with pen I think and overwritten with 100. The boxes contain 100 each. I got most of my S&W stuff back then from a business called Clair Frank in Willow Street Pa...maybe from Ron Shirk too. I have a box or two of 20 ga new unfired cases out in the garage too. Head stamped I think...S&W-F. I may have loaded some back in the day.
