S&W Pre 27-Just need to dialogue

I think that this is what you're looking for (except that It's all scratched up...):

I purchased this a few years ago from a super classy forum member and local collector that helped me scratch an itch that was keeping me up at night (for months and years). He charged me what I considered then a very fair price and it was significantly higher than the prices discussed here. He also was meticulous in pulling together and maintaining complete packages.

I also think that it may be easier to find factory engraved models as complete sets in good condition as they were likely purchased as artistic collectibles, rather than working firearms... But once again, the artwork will increase the price of the gun...

ditrina- Want to add another to your list? Nickel, 3.5" barrel S 79680
shipped 9/20/50 to Charleston Hardware Co. Charleston, WV.

Thanks to all. This is what is really special about this forum. I guess we all are looking for the same thing. Good luck to all.

I acquired S82,xxx in 99%+ original blue in a tatty original box for $3200 several years ago. I considered it then and now a bargain.

This is........

Pre-27, number S76006. I haven't gotten around to letterin' it yet, but, I'm pretty confident it shipped in mid 1950.

Late to add to this, but I paid &1,100 for one no box or nuttin. Gun is in 90+% condition with period correct grips not numbered to the gun. I thought I was paying a little much, but in my years of poking around here it was the first I found for sale locally.
I bought early on purpose as I do not see the demand or prices for these guns going any direction but north.
$3K for a 95%+ with all the goodies seems a bargain to me.

I found this one back in 1993. It is the one that started me into buying up numerous other S&W's. It has just enough wear on it that I would still take it out once in awhile and shoot it a little, just because it is so accurate and smooth. It letters to 9/23/53. I'm not saying what I paid for it, but it would take at least 5 times that amount to pry it away form me.

One mans 95% is another mans 98% , and to a seasoned specialist might only be a 90% + .
All my guns are 99%+ !!!!!!!!
