Looks like a model 60. Not sure if that's stamping on the side or a sticker of some sort since it appears to cover the s&w logo. Maybe it's just the lighting?

Agree, a nickel model 36 looks similar but would have a case-hardened hammer and trigger. Can't make out the SN but it would date from 1965 to about 1981.

What's stamped on the side? It looks like someone's initials?

It looks to be either Roe or Poe. However this is not my revolver. All I was asked to do is identify it.

It looks exactly like my model 60. Mine was made in 1970.

Not necessarily. I have an example of a 1976 Model 36 Nickel with the matte gray hammer and trigger. Got it from the original owner who claims to have bought it new.
I did some research and found other examples as well. One sold here on this forum years ago. They're not common but they do exist. Just like I've seen a few examples of stainless Smiths with Case Hardened color hammers and triggers.
But in this case I also agree that it looks like a model 60 based on the tint and softness of the finish.

Those points and I believe I can make out an "R" for the first digit in the serial number.
Btw, I have one of those stainless guns with case hardened trigger. A 640-1
They are Tyler T grip adapters. Aftermarket, not factory, but a comfortable alternative to oversize stocks.
