Hi There,

I saw this revolver and I wondered about the markings. I don't believe this is a
genuine S&W (probably a foreign copy of some sort) but the markings on the
frame caught my eye. Can any of you throw some light on this?

Cheers!
Webb

I agree it is a copy.
no help on markings

I would love to see the barrel rib address markings and the rear face of the cylinder. So far it does smell of a doreign copy. And well done too.

Based on the crossed swords, I would take a wild guess at Turkish/Ottoman. Do you know what caliber it is?

This gun sold, May 13th, in a Casa Grande, AZ. jewelry auction for $750 hammer price plus buyer's premium & sales tax, etc. - probably close to $1,000 out the door. Caliber was not given. It is of middle eastern or european origin. I believe the marks are proof marks. I've had several of these over time and they would often chamber 44 Russian caliber. It's a S&W copy that has been refinished, maybe several times. Ed

Hi There,

Thanks for all the information so far. Some have asked for additional pics and
I'll post what has been asked for based on available pics supplied by the sellers.
The caliber is not mentioned and hammer nose and breach pics are not supplied.
The barrel appears to be devoid of any markings.

Cheers!
Webb

I knew the Turks bought thousands of 44 Rimfire Henry rifles (maybe 40,000) of Bannerman and something like 500 No. 3 Russian models in 44 Henry RF. And I know they used to great effect on the Czar's troops, But that's the extent of my knowledge about Turks and No 3's.
