1984 was beginning of triple alpha, but 5th edition doesnt list that one. The T's go from then up to 1993, then into the V's for a year or two, then both. The first U that I see is there UFC in 2009, followed by UCF in 2014.
The separate .22 rimfire section shows a few more:
1994 UAH, UBA
1997 UAM
2009 UCE
2013 UCU, UDR

Just to clarify, are you saying that the first Model 41’s with triple alpha serial prefix was 1984? Because across the whole line, the triple alpha prefix debuted with the L-frame .357’s.

As for a guess for UBW, best help I have is that I formerly owned a UBZ prefix that was March of 2009, but it was a SW1911. (a very good one I might add!)

Cant say relative to 22s

But Most of the U prefix seemed to be post 2000 and many 3rd gen U prefix pout of Houlton ME.

Also many prefixes bridged multiple years.

Best to email SW with model and full SN and ask.

Good call - page 406 (describing the Model 41) said "1984: Serial number changed to a 3-alpha prefix beginning at TAA". Then back in the reported SN section for revolvers the first entry says "1980 AAA"
