S&W Shield Holster

I too have been thinking about getting a holster for my Shield from this company so I would also be interested in any first hand reports.

Well, i'd first be impressed if s&w can keep my magazines from dropping. then i'll figure out a good holster lol.

I just got one of these last week, it is a top notch quality holster! The Shield and mag fit in it like a glove! I would not hesitate to buy another one from them. I ordered on a Friday, and it was at my door on Wednesday, total for the holster and shipping was less then $50.Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up!

I forgot to mention, the 8rd mag will not fit in the mag pouch, the plastic piece that conforms to the grip hits on the top of the holster, so you have to carry the 8rd mag in the gun. I dont like the 8rd so I bought another 7rd and carry one in the gun and one in the mag pouch.

Here are a few pics.

That's the dumbest idea I've ever seen.

If you actually find yourself in a GUNFIGHT and not at your backyard barbeque or at the range showing off to your buddies, you either have to:

a) Stop shooting, put the gun in your off hand, pull the mag from that goofy-a** rig, switch the pistol and mag to the opposite hand(s), drop the empty mag from the pistol, load the second mag, rack the slide, and THEN hope the other guy didn't blow your brains out while you're farting around with your purty holster.

b) Stop shooting, reach ACROSS your body and fumble around to get the second mag, drop, reload, rack, and shoot.

Either way, you're worm food.

You should buy holsters and support gear for function, not 'cause its purty. Sheesh.

Did I miss something? Can't find ONE post about the holster being "purty"

I dont see how it is a dumb idea. Without the mag pouch, my extra mag stays home. This was the best solution for me, I wanted everything in a compact, easy to use package, grab and go, thats what I got...I'm not a cop, I don't want to wear a duty belt.

You don't need a duty belt to carry a Shield. I use a Sticky either IWB or in my front pocket, but regardless of what brand holster you use you should have an extra mag on your weak side so that you can grab it, reload, and stay in the fight without EVER taking your eyes or sights off the bad guy.

If you DON'T carry an extra mag - ESPECIALLY with a pistol that has an eight round magazine - then you certainly are not serious about concealed carry or protecting yourself and your loved ones.

Like Clint Smith says, carrying a weapon is not SUPPOSED to be comfortable. It's supposed to be comforting.

Are you kidding me, do you think before you speak? What about revolver guys? I guess your probably one of those guys that also says, "if you don't carry a .45, you may as well not carry anything" huh

**sigh**

The guys I know who carry a revolver for personal defense also carry speed loaders. In a pouch. On their belt. On the weak hand side, opposite their holster.

Oh, and they aren't attached to the holster, either, like that goofy thing in the link above.

Nope. Although do I mostly carry a .45 cal 1911, if you'll actually read my post above you'll see that I said that I carry my (9mm) S H I E L D in a Sticky brand holster, either IWB or in my front pocket.

And for the record, I carry a spare mag in a Sticky mag pouch on my weak hand side, opposite the holster.

C'mon now, its just common sense. If you are gonna carry for personal defense and you actually end up in the suck, don't you want spare ammo? You KNOW that you're (not YOUR) gonna run that puppy dry just out of sheer adrenaline.

There is NO excuse - NONE - for not carrying an extra magazine (or two) and you want it where you can get to it fast, reload fast, and never take your eyes off the guy trying to shoot you in the head.

You canNOT do that using the rig in the link above. Just not possible.

To each...his own....A little practice goes along ways, as with any new piece of equipment, you need to practice drawing and reloading, before you make it your every day carry rig.

I also have a Ruger LCR. I can tell you, that for me, it takes alot longer to reload it twice "15rds", then it does to reload my Shield once "15rds".
