I am purchasing the Shield this week. Seems as if I read an article about a Pro version Shield that has an improved trigger. I can not find a model number or any information on the Smith & Wesson website. Anyone know anything? Thanks in advance.

There is no "pro" model in the shield line. Many people say that the shield has a better factory trigger than the earlier full size M&P's, that may be where some of the confusion comes from.

The 'New' Shield model is the 'No Thumb Safety' (NTS) model introduced earlier this year. There is no difference in the triggers.
Since the Shield is a concealed carry pistol and not a competition pistol, there's no real reason for a 'Pro' model.

A red dot sight on a shield is an interesting idea, not practical but interesting nonetheless.

You may be confusing the "pro" model with the "C.O.R.E." Model. The CORE is made to accept red dot sights, but the pro just has a different sear.

And sights, and grips (largely inconsequential, compared to the different sear, since most people change both anyways), and ... more?

I forgot about the different sights, I still have the OEM front sight on mine, but swapped the rear out for a burwell sight. Mine is an older one, so it came with the same grip backstraps as the regular M&Ps.
