I want to get a smaller thin style 9 MM like the 3913-14's. Are there other models camparible to those? Really don't want a striker fired gun or a DAO gun. Stainless or blued. Thanks.

The 908 is a good alternative. They can be found in my area for around $300 including a couple of magazines. I think the 909 is also the same size as the 13-14 models.

A CS9 is a bit smaller than a 3913. The only other smallish single stack all metal DA/SA is the Sig 239. The 3rd gen Smiths are out off production leaving the 239 the last off its kind.

I agree, the 908, 908s and CS9's are great guns. Any of them would be a good choice.

The 3904/3906 are (were) fine full sized single stack pistols worthy of consideration.

Another vote for the 908 or its stainless brother, the 908S. I sold mine years ago and regretted it. Just picked up a almost new 908S for $400 with three magazines and couldn't be happier.

Here's an idea

How about something like this?

3953tsw with the shorter grip and 1 less in the mag.

There are times that I think of selling it but then run across a post like this and realize I need to keep it :)

It is DAO so it wouldn't be perfect for you....

But it is available in traditional double action...

I don't think there is a better 9mm single stack carry gun than the 3913/3914.

There are similar guns. They just don't have the combination of reliability, durability, accuracy and ease of carry that the 3913 has.

None of them look as good doing all that either. ;) Regards 18DAI

I'm willing to bet you wear a t-shirt with a 3913 on it.
You probably have a picture of a 3913 over your bed.
Your email handle is 3913lover@... :p

Just kidding with ya 18DAI. Your talk of the 3913 convinced me I needed one and you were 110% right. I love it!! It's a gun I'll never sell.... ;)

Where can I get one of those T-shirts Lost Lake? ;)

I do have a 3913 in the night stand. And I just won a 3913/3914 production flyer on Gunbroker! :) One could say I'm a big proponent of these pistols. I'm glad you are enjoying yours.

Next weekend I pick up a NIB 3914 I'm trading for. Only took me five years to find a nice one.

Now to work on changing that Email addy...... ;) Regards 18DAI

How do you go wrong with the King of CCW? The 3913/4 etc. Everything you need and nothing you don't! Has been that way over 20 years andd no one has improved on it yet.

I had one in the mid90's that I carried as a bug or off duty. I loved it, but sold it off in a weak moment when we were finally allowed to move up in caliber at work. Always was one of those guns I regretted selling - which is why I just picked one back up. This time I won't make the same mistake. I'm reminded why I liked it so much back then. Outstanding guns.

Personally, I'm highly impressed with the new Shield. I've fired one extensively and it meets the needs for a flat and small carry gun that will shoot well and reliably without having to carry an older collectible Smith. One can be had for around $400 and deserves a rethink.
