S&W announced that new requirements in CA for a 'bullet stamping' gun is too way out and won't be marketing any new models there, but will continue to sell the the present line.

I think this is the wrong approach. They should make guns that are allow in CA, but charge out the ying yang for all of those special features.

At least they aren't accepting useless, sweeping compromises such as holes with a tiny lock built in to the gun.

They stopped selling to Ca a long time ago. When they got tired of paying $200k per gun to safety test every time

If Smith and Wesson did that, all they would be doing is hurting the end user, the Lady or gentleman who wanted and was willing to pay the ying/yang price.

Sadly California is becoming the first state to make firearm ownership almost impossible.

With the passing of Prop #63 Ca is also making the ownership of Ammo impossible for the good guys too.. People are so Timid & Stupid they think background checks for ammo will stop the Bad Guys from obtaining it...

How did we ever raise generations of "Timid Scaredy Cats?".... I guess that "Trophies" for just participating is NOT Working out very well..

Well, that would be fine except that the required microstamping technology required to make a handgun "not too unsafe" enough to get on our "allowed for peons" roster doesn't actually exist in a viable form yet...

This has been true for a couple of years. It is quite awful here. I was lucky enough to buy a shield 9 last year, and the CA models are still available here as long as no changes are made.

That is the reason why Glock still makes the Gen 3's. They can be sold here (not the 42 or 43), as they passed the "safe gun" test, but the gen 4's would have to have the new "safety features - i.e. microstamping).

It is even worse... recently RIA changed the logo on the slide, and that made it a "new" gun, so they would have to have it tested (and of course have the new microstamp thingy). So those are no longer allowed.

With the signing of Governor Brown's laws a few months ago, and further restrictions of Prop 63 that passed last night, AR's will no longer be able to be sold (unless converted to featureless) after Jan 1st, and will have to be registered in a year.

The new ammo laws are ridiculous. $50 license to buy ammo (who knows how long it is good for) and $ undisclosed per transaction fee on ammo for a back ground check. I am sure this will stop all the bad guys.

Also new in prop 63 (from last night) possession of "high capacity magazines" (anything over 10 rounds) is a crime. We have to either pin them all to 10 rounds, or turn them in. Even if they were legally purchased previously (before the 10 round ban).

It's past the time that all law abiding gun owners to have departed Comrad Brown's Kaliforniastan and moved to a free state thus leaving it many tax payers less to reap what they sowed. it

If they say "our way or the highway,"take the highway.

I LEFT California in the first great wave of migration, years before many of these new Squatters were born or moved into the state. I still remember the California good life. Surf, sand, sun, blonds, a very tolerant attitude, and decent jobs for anyone who was willing to apply themselves. I loved it. Sadly California is becoming a third world country, run by those who falsely consider themselves to be the elite.
Keep your failed social experiment. I along with so many and our hard earned money, which some of you feel the need to take, left years ago, never to return.

Good luck paying your bills..

Honestly ALL the manufacturers need to pull out and pull LEO support too. If we CITIZENS can't get it then no one can. It will hurt short term, but right now the courts are arguing we have plenty of choices on the roster.

Granted CA is still a big enough cash cow no manufacturer will.

Since federal law trumps state laws where they conflict, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could have a federal law that says people have a right to own AR's, buy and possess ammo without special permits and permission, 30 rd mags, etc etc. Maybe that could happen, who knows.

I remember when the microstamping bill was introduced on the federal level a few yrs ago. the bill stated that when the technology became available then that part of the law would become active and permanent. The manufacturers did not pursue the technology and the bill did not pass. Still no microstamping that I know of.

That was announced in 2014. Try and keep up. :D:p

BTW: Ruger also stopped the same time.

Well California Attorney General Kamala Harris begs to differ with you. She has proclaimed that the technology does exist. She is the Attorney general and the law and technology is what she says it is.

She is now senator Harris. Maybe we will get a better replacement Attorney General.

The good news is Barbara Boxer is gone. The bad news is now we have Harris.

California just legalized recreational marijuana 2 days ago. You can now carry a bag weed in your pocket, just not a chief special.
