Does anyone have experience or information regaring use of K-22 and Model 15s at the facility east of Amarillo, Texas? There are examples of both models marked USERDA PANTX. They assemble and store nuclear weapons there.
Thanks

Hello Bob:

I can't help you with the K-22 and Model 15 question, but I can tell you that the Pantex Ordnance Plant used quite a few S&W Victory Models in .38 Special during WW2. Three of them show up in the Victory Model Database. At that time the facility was making 500 lb. aerial bombs and was operated by CertainTeed Corporation for the government. I would not be surprised to find that there are still some Victory Models out there at the plant.

There is at least one Pantex marked Smith Revolver revolver in private hands. I believe it was a Model 15, but it has been a long time since I've seen it. It did have a very smooth action.

There was a "PANTEX" marked Model 15 sold on Auction Arms in 2003. I just bought a K-22 from early 50's also marked.
Still looking for more info.
Thanks for your replies.

Small world, my daughter works at PANTEX now. Whenever they take "the bomb" apart, they detonate the high explosives on site. They give them notice beforehand, she still jumps after 5 years on the job!!

Take this for what it is worth, with a grain of salt, and consider the source. A retired guard from the plant said the used the K22s to control a certain burrowing creature around the perimeter fences.

I bought a m-15 with Pantex engraved above the left trigger guard in the late 70s or early 80s. At the time I didn't collect police or military marked pistols and I sold it. I wish I had kept it. A local class 3 dealer in Austin, Texas sold M-16s marked Pantex.

This isn't mine--just a picture I nicked from somewhere (maybe even this forum!). Have you tried a search on this forum and others?

USERDA PANTEX

I have a model 15-3 K Frame that is marked USERDA PANTEX. It has a target trigger, hammer and adjustable sights. The finish isn't great, but it will do. The person that I got it from kept it as his truck gun. The action is smooth and it still shoots great. Don't know the value ,but I paid $250 for it.
