Ole Joe Clark
Absent Comrade
Good Morning,
It's a beautiful clear Sabbath Day in Dixie today, and 60 sun filled degrees. So, there are no excuses to stay home today and not get out and worship Him, we all have so much to be thankful for.
Thanks for all the kind words about our 57th wedding anniversary yesterday. It was a great day, we are still exhausted from it.
We traveled to a place (apply named) called Pine Mountain, where the ABMA (Alabama Bluegrass Music Association) gathers monthly during the summer to eat too much and play or listen to bluegrass music.
This was only my second visit and we arrived a little early to escape the horrible traffic that we were caught in when we attempted to get there on an earlier trip.
I saw an older gentleman that I recognized and during our conversation I invited him to do some songs with me. He told me that his wife had passed away several years earlier and he seemed to be starving for fellowship and attention. We did some songs, exchanged phone numbers and just generally enjoyed each others company, (I know I did) and he soon drifted off to greet other folks he knew.
I know most of you don't really care what I did yesterday, and I understand that. But, I also know a lot of us are Certified Old Geezers, and that wives and/or husbands have passed away and that a lot of us either live alone or have friends and/or neighbors that do. Let's not forget, especially during this upcoming holiday season to include these folks in a social gathering or two. They need the fellowship and a kind gesture to help keep their spirits up and a smile on their faces. I know that HE doesn't love me any more than HE loves my neighbor, the drug addict or lonely old Veteran, or any less either.
Enough!!
Have a blessed Sabbath, and tell somebody that you really love them, (only if you really mean it!).
Leon
