Good Morning,

It's a beautiful clear Sabbath Day in Dixie today, and 60 sun filled degrees. So, there are no excuses to stay home today and not get out and worship Him, we all have so much to be thankful for.

Thanks for all the kind words about our 57th wedding anniversary yesterday. It was a great day, we are still exhausted from it.

We traveled to a place (apply named) called Pine Mountain, where the ABMA (Alabama Bluegrass Music Association) gathers monthly during the summer to eat too much and play or listen to bluegrass music. :-) This was only my second visit and we arrived a little early to escape the horrible traffic that we were caught in when we attempted to get there on an earlier trip.

I saw an older gentleman that I recognized and during our conversation I invited him to do some songs with me. He told me that his wife had passed away several years earlier and he seemed to be starving for fellowship and attention. We did some songs, exchanged phone numbers and just generally enjoyed each others company, (I know I did) and he soon drifted off to greet other folks he knew.

I know most of you don't really care what I did yesterday, and I understand that. But, I also know a lot of us are Certified Old Geezers, and that wives and/or husbands have passed away and that a lot of us either live alone or have friends and/or neighbors that do. Let's not forget, especially during this upcoming holiday season to include these folks in a social gathering or two. They need the fellowship and a kind gesture to help keep their spirits up and a smile on their faces. I know that HE doesn't love me any more than HE loves my neighbor, the drug addict or lonely old Veteran, or any less either.

Enough!!

Have a blessed Sabbath, and tell somebody that you really love them, (only if you really mean it!).

Leon

Good Sabbath Leon,

We have been on the road and spending time over in Alabama with the grands.

Did something to my lower back and had to take some muscle relaxers for a week. Man, was I spaced out! All better now, though.

I was humbled last week by coming in last place in our old-timer's 100 yard rimfire match. If a round goes in the red area, it's hard to see at 100 yards. So, I had three go into the same hole (in the red area of the bull) and didn't correct for it as I couldn't see it! I thought I had missed the whole target. I should mention that the wind was also terrible and kept switching directions. LOL

One round in the red means you can kiss a good finish goodbye. My score went out the window. :(

Congrats there Leon on your anniversary!

Here are some daybreak pics from our morning walk.

,

I always look for your posts and the beautiful photos.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

WardenRoss, your bad day at the range probably beats my best day any day of the week.

Good afternoon, everybody. I just got back from the auction house over around Gettysburg that was having a gun and accessories auction today. The auction always starts with the reloading components, ammunition and accessories. The powder, primers and loaded ammunition were going for crazy prices still but I was able to pick up some bullets and brass for reasonable prices. I learned my lesson back during the primer shortage during the Clinton Administration so I keep buying shells and components when I get a chance for a decent deal. Anybody remember Alberts Bullets? They were a swaged lead bullet for handgun calibers. I managed to find a brick of them in .44 caliber. I didn't stay for the gun auction since I depleted my budget with the Browning High Power I got from the shop in Alaska.

It was a little cool when I got up this morning but it has now warmed up nicely here in southcentral PA. Everybody enjoy your day.

Thanks Golddollar, but it's that wonderful German, Anschutz rifle and not me!

Just for giggles...

Here's what a six mph wind does to a .22LR at 100 yards.

No wind, all is going well.

Then an unexpected six mph variable wind.

I will be under radio silence for a while.

Hold my calls.....

Sure does look good......

Today for lunch, the MBH opened some our our canned green beans into an old iron skillet and heated them with some bacon bits. Then she made mashed potatoes to go with them. Sure was good with a biscuit.

I hope there is some leftovers for supper.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I need to get my Remington 513-T out and play with it. That's what I used in my school rifle club many decades ago.

Leon I for one enjoy your Sabbath Day posts. I know there are many other that do too.
A bit of a downer of a day here.
I had three friend die this last Weds. and visitations were for one night only. Today.
One was a 95 year old WWII vet that served under Gen Patton. I never knew he received a Purple Heart for injuries suffered in combat. His own son didn't know until he found the medal.
First time I've seen one in person.
Another was a 78 year old Cancer patient I've know for about 60 years. Our fathers worked together. He contracted Covid 10 days ago Weds. in spite of being vaccinated and I guess his body could only take so much.
The last was a neighbor lady that had trouble eating and the Drs could not do anything for her. Why I do not know. She basically starved to death, I was told.
It reminds me that we are only here for a short while.
Enjoy it while you can.
Sorry to be a downer to Brother Leon's uplifting thread.

I didn't really like your post because it was sad but I know that it helped you get rid of some of the hurt. I know that I can't have too much time left and I am doing my best to enjoy and make the most of it. I don't want another fall and I am being as careful as I can be. The ranks of us who served in WW11 are getting smaller fast.

Talking about losing friends and loved ones does not make your post a downer. It's ok to share pain and loss. I will put you on my prayer list.

Leon

Thanks for your post, Leon. Well, we have been praying for rain in Calif. and the Good Lord sure came thru. We are over 3 inches so far & wind is hitting my kitchen window. Supposed to get to 45 MPH tonight. I lost a very good friend last week, he was only 81. He passed doing what he loved. Was deer hunting with his son. RIP old pardner. You are missed.
