Sad Looking Model 27-2

It's probably a good thing you didn't post a link to the ad. Because if you had I am sure that a lot of those who have seen these pictures would be contacting the seller and suggesting that he take up a new career, as a septic tank diver. That is almost the worst butchering of a revolver I have ever seen and doing it to a 3 1/2 inch model 27 just makes it a greater sin.

I think it's agreed that not many here are impressed with the gunsmith's work on the 27 and I have no idea what prompted his decision to use the 27. I'd feel better if it had been something along the lines of a Taurus or perhaps maybe even one of the many model 10's but I'm sorry... doing that to a 3.5" M27-2 is an abomination IMO.

Somebody please tell us that was unintentional. That is even worse than the Christmas red 3" Model 36 from an earlier post.

This belongs on http://thebestofarmslist.tumblr.com

Also, a couple weeks ago I posted a thread in the lounge similar to this, and it got taken down and I was warned for "promoting" a sale listing on another site. (I was denigrating it, but whatever.) So did the rules change, or is enforcement just spotty?

The ad indicates it's a "custom shop" gun. Maybe the owner accidentally sent his S&W to the "Colt Custom Shop", and they punished his 27 with this awful finish.

I would wonder what kind of "gunsmith" wouldn't know how to properly measure a revolver barrel. Kind of a big red flag to me from the git go. After that it just goes down hill!

You can't link to an active ad; nothing wrong with posting the pictures (or links to them)...

This is the message I got from the gunsmith that did the custom work on the model 27-2

"Really don't know why its sad or why it fascinates this poster. Personal problems I guess. Jealousy is another I guess".

I hate to say it but I think he is proud of his work.

Perhaps they just screwed up on the decimal point, and it's really $90.ºº.
I'd take it for that(if that included freight & FFL fee).

I have a possession that has the same exact finish. Exactly the same.

We bought the remainder of my wife's Grandparents farm, 160 acres, for our retirement home/farm.

On that farm, gee I hope no one says ei eio, is a 35'x65' Metal quonset hut. It was built by my wife's grandfather in the late 40's. It was rusty, no problem, just rusty. My wife wanted it silver.

We hired some Amish lads to paint it. We bought the etching primer, repair materials, plenty of rollers with long extension handles and the silver paint. We had not yet retired and were still living in St. Louis. We couldn't wait to take a 3 day weekend, drive 6 hours one way and see the "new" building.

After seeing the 27-2 I now know there is more than one way to spell disappointment.

The boys did not use the rollers. They used my nice pump up weed control sprayer. it is totally ruined. The paint job splattered out of the hand pump. It is uneven, lumpy and nasty.

The thing that left me in shock is, they were proud of their work. The replacement 2x12's were spliced in, poor work at best. Then they said they would love to build our new home. I can still taste the bile in the back of my mouth.

One needs to see if this custom gunsmith wears a billy jack round top hat and sits behind a horse.

Now you can do the, and on this farm is a crappy Quonset hut, EI EIO.....

I was tempted to message the dolt and tell him he is about 700 bucks over priced. Good to hear that he remains a fool......
