Between delivering lambs, I snuck off to a show outside of Conroe yesterday to see if I could find a deal or two. Turned out to be a smaller show than I had anticipated, maybe 50 tables of guns and knives. Overall, prices were decent considering what I have seen Smiths go for here but there were weird issues with nearly every deal (.45 1955 barrel N frame that was stamped 28-2, very nice S prefix 28 that had bore corrosion so bad I couldn't see any lands).
One nice gentleman from Central Texas had this .38 S&W Lemonsqueezer that caught my eye. 3 1/4" 5th Model, around 251,000 serial number, walnut stocks with the serial written in pencil (Supica and Nahas mentions the wooden stocks are scarce), super clean bore and cylinder. Action is stiff, leading me to believe it hasn't been cycled much or is gunked up. Only real wear is on the cylinder where bluing is missing but no rust or pitting anywhere. No 'made in USA' stamp anywhere.
I've had a couple of .32 Safety Hammerless guns plus a Double Action .38 but this is the first of this flavor to follow me home. Gave $450 but is pretty clean and I feel good about it. Click on thumbnails to enlarge.
