I snagged this ex-Law Enforcement issued police surplus Mossberg M590A1 recently for an awesome price:

For those of you who don’t know, the M590A1 is the standard issue 12-gauge pump action shotgun for the U.S. military.

It has all MILSPEC parts including a solid steel trigger group and safety. It also is parkerized and most notably features a thick heavy-walled barrel for durability.

It is frankly the toughest pump gun ever made. This example features ghost ring sights and a speed feed stock.

It’s got its bumps and bruises and took a LOT of cleaning to get it to where you see it now, and also a new magazine spring, but this salty old ex-cop shotgun rides again.

These M590A1s are superior in every way to the other Mossbergs and are built like a tank. I plan on using this is my beater for in the woods and in the desert for defense.

The S&W 3000 was a worthy contender to this as far as an all steel pump.

I remember seeing LE versions in the late 1980's...parkerized, heavy, twin action bars. They were made like a heavier duty 870.
I remember those 3000’s, my department bought some in the mid 1980’s. They were actually an improvement over the 870P’s with the tab that prevented the dreaded double feed. We never had 590’s, but I bought one for personal use and it’s still a good shotgun (but I like riot guns).
