I know there are many of us here! It is so beautiful and each piece is so different. I saw this Case fixed blade and had to have it. It is from 1979, and in 23 years, it is taking on that wonderful mellow golden cream color, that will only get better with age. As usual, show 'em if you got 'em.

I too like nice stag; I have found though that buying sight unseen is a crapshoot. I only buy now if I can see it in hand or have good photos to review.

Some of my stag items; knives, the grips on my Ruger Speed Six and an antique bottle opener that was passed down from my great Aunt. The bottle opener has sterling mounts (cap & ferrule)

This is all I can contribute now. Regret selling a lot of my Stag.

Has anyone here ever bought a gun just for the grips? I've tried to do it twice but GB Billionaires out bid me.

My only set of Sambar stag grips are on this Ruger old model .44 Magnum which dates from 1957. They are factory grips, which were available for an extra charge in those days.

John

John, do you happen to remember the approximate up charge for those superb grips? What ever it was, it was worth it!

Pardon the extra walnut set, but the two on the right wear Sambar stag from the late Roy Fishpaw. I've been downsizing some lately, but realized I probably couldn't sell these two without the grips. Roy would only fit grips if you sent him the gun. You wouldn't think there'd be much variation in modern guns, but I have a maple pair by him that was on a model 18. I gave the gun to a deserving young shooter, but kept the grips - I'm not that nice. I tried them on half a dozen K frames from several decades, and they wouldn't quite fit. I had to send him another gun to have the grips refitted.

Larry thanks for starting this thread.....

.......,been a long time since we had some good Sambar images. Some great stuff in these images.

I like the boot grip versions that were available years ago. Have been lucky enough to get a few sets.
