'Sammich" must haves" thread........

I will never understand why men want to take a good piece of ham, pastrami, burger or whatever and cover it with that vile stuff called mustard. There are only two places that mustard belongs, deviled eggs and potato salad and then it better be Dijon.

I must correct you on one point PG and that is the location of the mustard! Call me OCD (I've been called worse!) but the condiment of choice - in this case a bit of mustard, must be applied directly to the bottom slice of bread, never on top!!;)

Flat bread, swiss cheese, black forest ham, turkey, roasted red peppers and horseradish. Beverage of your choice

sandwich requirements:
miracle whip n mustard
good cheese... swiss fontina cheddar
good meat... corned beef ham salami or bologna primary choices
lettuce n tomatoes if around
best bread we got

I found an awesome mustard recently at Publix. Lakeshore brand Strong Irish Mustard. Bold flavor and will clear your sinuses!

On this side of the Rockies, Hellman's is called Best Foods. If a sandwich calls for mayo, it is the ONLY choice.

Right now I'm on a smoked brisket kick, sliced thin, served on a brioche bun with mayo (Best Foods!) and horseradish. Good sandwich!

Ya'll forgot the most important ingredient for good sandwiches, and that is...DUKE'S mayo. Still made in Greenville, SC, using the original recipe.

I make my own mustard to get exactly what I'm looking for in flavor, heat, whatever. Super easy and cheap, there are web sites dedicated to just homemade mustard. When 'store bought' is almost, but not quite, what you're looking for.

If you want to try out a new taste for your potato salad to Corned Beef sandwiches, that has a light kick to it, you might grab a bottle of this light mustard.

I've got to have this with my corned beef and cabbage, or it does not get cooked...... and lots of it.

I like a 28 grain bread with either pastrami or smoked ham (or both I suppose). I add blue cheese crumbles and extra sharp cheddar and instead of butter or mayo I add a layer of Original Philly cream cheese. Then I lightly butter the outside of each piece of bread and grill the snot out of it.

I like a fried sausage sandwich on lightly toasted potato bread, with some mayo and crispy dill pickles! Hmmm, makes my mouth water. Good with a fried egg on it sometimes too, If I'm up to cooking one.

on a hot day I'll go for a cold ham sammich with mayo and colby cheese and some crispy lettuce. Fresh tomato if in season.
