If this needs to be moved to the Ammo section please do. However, a guy was selling some Samson 9mm today at a swap meet. He said it was Israeli and was probably what the army or police used. It was 115 gr. hollowpoint and had an interesting crimp. He wanted $20.00 for a 50 rnd box. Anyone know anything about this? I have never heard of it.

I for one will not be of any help. $20 a box may be slightly high for 9mm HP's, BUT these days, any ammo is good ammo.

I haven't shot any in almost fifteen years, but their 180gr. .30-06 softpoints were pretty decent. I caught a friend of mine before he was able to shoot any through his Garand and bend the op rod. I traded him some 150gr. ball for it. It shot well out of my Savage 112BVSS.

I don't think I've shot any of their handgun ammo. The Israeli "TZZ" headstamped .45acp 230gr. ball we had in the Army in the '80s was VERY accurate and reliable.

Samson was (is?) the name put on IMI (Israel Military Industries) commercial ammo imported into the US.

Don't know if that's still the case or not. I used to see a lot of empty boxes from the 9mm at the range but haven't in the past year or so. Never shot any of it myself.

Try a search on IMI ammo and maybe some info will come up.

Samson was very good ammo but I don't believe it has been imported since the 90's. It was an IMI product, made for commercial sale in the US, may have had some police dept sales but can't say for sure on that. Currently 20 a box for 50 rds of hollow points isn't bad, most new production HP's are closer to 30 or 35 for 50 rds.

I still have 4 boxes of 9mm given to me back in the early '90s. If I recall, it was loaded pretty hot. (does not state +P)

I can't recall if I've used any Samson hollow point ammo, but I used quite a bit of the Samson/IMI black tip "carbine" ammo. It was excellent ammo, loaded to velocities consistent with current Winchester Q4318 NATO ammo. Also used a lesser amount of the TZZ headstamped 9MM, also excellent.

The factory IMI and TZZ ammo I used didn't have anything unusual about the crimp. I have seen plenty of reloaded gun show ammo put in factory boxes. I'd say =Buyer Beware= if you detect anything about gun show/swap meet ammo that doesn't seem quite right...
