Wow I just saw the news out of San Diego ....Car lines of those wanting to turn in their guns blocks long ....Funny thing most say they don't want to be burglarized for their guns...The lady Police Chief was just beaming about the success of the voluntary tun in..Most were regular citizens, some had weapons now banned....This is a no questions asked turn in....I was shocked at the voluntary response..Funny thing most that were shown on the news looked like regular working folks.....I actually thought San Diego was a bit more conservative than some other California Cities....I'll bet the gangsters are I. Not turning in their guns 2. Looking at all the middle class home's to be burglarized. The golden state...I think 100 bucks for most guns, two hundred for assault rifles.......Go wonder????

Perhaps the saddest part of all is that some elderly widows turn in their late husbands WW II or Korean bring backs. Guns worth maybe thousands of dollars to collectors either end up being melted down or going into someone's private collection for peanuts.

The ladies lose money and we lose a part of our history.

Makes me sad.

Brainwashing only works on the gullible and weak willed.

The sad part is some of these people are actually rather intelligent, though often sheltered and misguided.

When people voluntarily disarm themselves, I feel sorry for LE... Simply more targets for the criminal element, and somebody eventually has to clean up the mess.

If they send them to me.....

I can dispose of them much more efficiently. Melt down the Saturday night specials and keep or find good homes for the rest. That really is disgusting. There are BOUND to be some beautiful guns in there.

And fail .....
If they are afraid of burglars stealing their guns, that's a strong indicator of the outcome.

It used to shock me as to just how easily, quickly and cheaply...

...that the American people would/will give up their rights. And for what?
It used to shock me.
It no longer does.

As a 3rd generation born in California, I am ashamed of California. Politics, illegals, EPA,tree huggers & a lot more have destroyed a beautiful state.I left there almost 12 years ago, best move I ever made.

I feel the same way about CT now. I have spent half my life in NYC or close by, and half my life in CT. Back and forth between the two (long story). I used to beam with pride saying where I was from: born in NYC, and grew up in Woodbury CT.

Now, I live in CT, and even though my town is great, I hate it here now.

Winter is awful, I make a real good salary, but my money doesn't go anywhere.

And the politics here are god awful.

I want to move, but my two boys like their school, and they would be heartbroken if we left. But I want to leave. This state is getting worse and worse and worse.

I used to work for San Diego PD. Great agency supported by a huge amount of hard working conservative cops. That being said, the upper level always (with rare rare exception) swapped to the weak side when it came to this. The former Chief was a huge gun guy, brought 1911s back to the Dept, etc - was also the head of the Chiefs against guns or some similar coalition for the Nation. Sad.

San Diego was conservative and one of the few remaining good places to live when I was there (90-06), mostly due to the military infrastructure and conservative retired base. Eventually, like everywhere else in California, liberalism invaded. It declined so much while I was there, that I saw the writing on the wall and popped smoke.

I was well over half way to retirement, but it was worth nothing transferring over and starting again to get out. Still a great place to visit, but every time I do, within a day or so, I'm ready to leave.

The smart FFL holder would sit a block away with a sign - $125 for most, $225 for "assault" weapons...imagine the score you'd make.

Well it sure surprised me.....I guess it was to be expected....Now few guns and fewer truck farms......Wait tho!! More illegals...wow what a bad trade off........I guess I still remember San Diego when I was in the Marines there in 56.....O' well the signs of the times.....As someone said the U.S.can only fail from with in...I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

My grandkids moved a couple years ago. All of them hated it. Then all off them loved their new school and town. Pick well and it will end well. Good Luck

I guess us Mid Westerners don't have it so bad after all...salary's not that great, weather,,Well if you don't like it stick around a day it will change....That is a fact!!......Not a real good place if you are flying to or from...Well unless you look forward to flying into Atlanta to go anywhere else...It seems that way anyhow....Even with our not to swift governor we still tend to be old fashioned about patriotism and church and all those things that seem to be politically incorrect these days...Been a lot of places but always come back....

I'm disappointed some enterprising FFL didn't set up a table down the block and put up a sign offering twice what the city was on certain weapons, especially collectables.

I saw a film clip a year or so ago about a buy back. A LEO was gloating about how many guns they got off the street while the camera was panning the assortment of RG's, Lorcins, etc. There in the middle was a "humpback" S&W either a 49 or 38. I damn near cried. I hope someone "rescued" it, rather than turn it into a manhole cover.
