SAT, real? Value?

Hi all, found a SAT at one of my local gunshops, the owner said he uses it as a counter screwdriver. I expressed my interest and told him what I thought it was and he agreed to let me take it home and check it out. He thinks it came out of a S&W box at one time. It's steel with a matt black finish, nine row with some wear. It does fit my sight adjustment screws. First, with my poor pictures, is it real and if so whats it worth in this condition? I have a 1947 vintage K-22 and a 1950 Vintage K-38 Combat Materpiece I think that could use this type of SAT. Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, It's a SAT from the late 1940s to the late 50s. Values run from around $40 to $75 on Ebay, depending on condition. There are several vaiations in the number of knurlings on the handle and the length of the tool, depending on which vendor made the tool for S&W. Ed.

Yes, that is a factory offering and is period correct for the guns you have listed.

I will state that a 100% specimen will exceed one hundred dollars on the open market. I have seen that all too frequent to consider that an unusual occurence.
The one you have pictured is a nine row knurled with a blued upper body and a black oxide shaft.
From your pictures the condition of that SAT, to me, would put that into the $50 - $60 range.

Thank's fella's! In my ignorance of value I did make a tenative offer of $50.00 to be adjusted up or down if it checked out and he accepted that. I do want to be fair with him as we do have a good working relationship. Once again my thank's for you help.
