I saw a Savage Model 19 at a gun shop after a business trip. I wasn't able to handle it but it resembles a 1903 Springfield in .22 lr. It has a military looking sling but no rear sight. I was told it was drilled/tapped. Does anyone know anything about this model of rifle (good shooter, bad shooter)? LGS was wanting $325 for it. It didn't look bad on the wall. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

it should have a rear sight and was not factory drilled and tapped. they are great old shooters if they have a good bore. I've had a couple over the years. haven't kept up with prices so I can't help there. lee

I had a model 19 NRA. It shot good. There are at least two different versions. One takes magazines that are common with other models and can be had economically. The other takes a magazine that is expensive and difficult to find.

I bought one cheap at a farm auction that was missing the
magazine. I got a quick lesson as it was the model that
used the expensive and hard to find magazine. I ended up
selling it to a dealer and almost had to pay him to take it.
