So a close friend of mine who is probably one if not they best 1911 smiths in the business occasionally does revolvers. Soooo I had a 29-2 that was bubbafied. Trigger job was terrible and unsafe and a few other items that were just not right. It was well worn from living under the seat of a truck, but I don't think fired very often. So I asked Ted if he would give it a make over, after some begging he reluctantly said yes but its going to take awhile I am booked up for a few years, I said no problem. Every once in a while I would stop in and we would solve the worlds problems and he would say, I haven't forgot about that thing you want me to fix. I smiled and said I know your busy and we would go back to other conversations knowing the end result of the gun was gong to be fantastic. Well today he sent a few pics and said come on by tomorrow its done. I am thrilled, what a transformation. Going into the reloading room to get some 44 Mags ready for the range.

The rear sight and grips are made by Ted Yost he did all the work. Unfortunately I did not take any before pictures of this gun it was at his shop for a few years and just never thought about it.

Everything about those grips say "very early Spegels".

The speed loader cut is vintage Spegel, the shape is a bit off - but the screw head is small - (way before he changed to the newer, larger screw), and the off-side plug is- again - vintage Spegel (although the "match" of the wood against the surrounding wood isn't as good as Craig does it these days.

Just 'sayin....

It was a shock to look at this one. A few years back I picked up a 29-2 that was in pretty rough shape. Didn't give a lot for it so I just played with it some. Mine has Ahrends grips and a gold bead front sight, other than that they could be the same gun.

Is that the best Ted can do? Your Mod. 29, as modified by Ted, is truly a work of art!!!

I don't know about everyone else but, I would enjoy a range report!

Few more pics should have a range report this week. Need to correct one statement these are Spegel grips that came in the raw Ted fit and finished them.

Range Report

Range report shoots pretty good at 45 feet using 44 specials.
