When I was growing up bucoo years ago, Smith was the neighbors name and Wesson was some kind of cooking oil my Mom used to fry chicken. Then came early teenage years and I discovered that when Smith, Wesson were separated by a ampersand there were some really cool revolvers to be admired, and hopefully somedat...accumulated and enjoyed.
Now at age 75 I'm getting into the S&W semi's, found a Model 39-2 with all the goodies, love it as much as my old BHP. Learned (from this Forum of course) that it is 1st Generation, so what about 2nd or 3rd....better learn up.
So..........2 SHORT days ago, late in evening...in Cabella's with wife getting stuff for family Xmas presents...wander over to ammo isle....everything gone....bare shelves. Wander further to the Gun Library which has had zip zero nada for weeks on end and lo and behold a couple used Glocks, a couple old Colt Positives and ONE S&W Model 4046 with 1 spare 11 round mag for $399! Sleepy eyed guy comes out of the little office and I say $350 and I'll give it a new home tonight. He says...don't have the authority, come back tomorrow when big boss is here.
Come back in yesterday early afternoon..........gone....gone. Gone like the wind!
That's how I claim to be SAVED....I don't have any guns in .40 S&W, it was rather heavy (but real nive in my hand), no ammo to be had anywhere so I couldn't even shoot it for a while..no decent holster in my stash....so THANK YOU to whoever saved me from this disaster.
I know by Forum names, most of you local guys so I'll be watching for your post of your latest great find of a Model 4046
Just for future knowledge...the 4046 seems to be priced low (under $400) for what it is....why is that? Obsolete caliber, weight, sights, never was popular????
