The first movie we've gone to in a theatre in a while and I have to say we enjoyed it. Predictable, however it kept us on the edge of our seats and was very well done.

I will say that it was as good or better than the first Top Gun and from what I understand has already reached #1 as the top $ grossing movie of all time. Like the original Top Gun, this movie will be played on tv, cable, & video for many years to come.

Tom Cruise did a good job acting and his own personal P51 Mustang and personal helicopter appear in the movie, both flown by him BTW. I'm sure many have already seen it, but for those who haven't, I'd say it's worth going to see it!

I had my doubts about how much better than the original it would be, due to the amount of "corn" and how far from reality the flight scenes would be (like the original). I was very pleasantly surprised, and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It's the first film in at least four years that I've gone to a theater to see, and I'd love to see it again at an IMAX if I have a chance. Having Jennifer Garner as Penny Benjamin was icing on the cake, and the new music video of Lady Gaga cements me as a fan of her, too.

Hating on Tom Cruise has gotten to be almost a cottage industry for some . . . that don't have his looks, talent, luck, success, drive, business sense, etc., etc., etc., . . .

Maybe one of these days he'll really be recognized for his work in films like "A Few Good Men". No special effects, car chases, explosions, just stellar acting to carry the story. A throwback to a better age in film making and story telling. More than five seconds of character development. Can't blame him for realizing the gold mine he has in such as the Top Gun franchise.

"Maverick" is a great movie for an action genre flick. Yeah, it was formulaic and predictable. But it was entertaining and the good guys won. (I'm not a fan of most anti-hero movies). When it influences the culture in different ways that phrases or scenes become iconic it's hard to dismiss the effort.

And that he insisted Val Kilmer be a part of it, at least says something to me about the kind of guy he is. He can laugh at himself (all the way to the bank) and while there's always someone willing to tell a story about him dissing someone or strangling kittens it seems he's known as generally being a pretty good guy.

He risks his own money (and his life at times) and does a lot of his own stunts. Hard not to like the guy. He's certainly willing to take physical and business risks. Must really endear him to his insurance carriers . . .

That was Jennifer Connelly in the movie - but yes, at 51 she's still a head turner.

The last time I went to a sit down show was The Chris Kyle film. It missed the showing time by 30 mins late of pop corn ads. I saved my hearing by use of ear plugs I go nowhere with out.

I worked on F-14's for 12 of the 21 years I spent in the Navy (Jet Mechanic, "AD") and I got a little emotional seeing the flight deck scenes, and when the F-14A made an appearance in the movie, I was all over it! My favorite movie for a long time....

I took my 15 and 12 year old Great Niece and Nephew to see it, they had not seen the original "Top Gun" but saw it "On Demand, Live Streaming" when they got home. They loved it too....

Yes it was. Dadgummit, I knew that when I was typing the wrong name. I've been in love with her since The Hot Spot, the first film I saw her in. She's awesome.

I seen Top Gun last Friday at 10:00 A.M Matinee with maybe only ten other people. I really enjoyed it theatre had wide reclining seats that vibrated with a surround sound . Would like to see it again on Max Screen

Does being on the pitching and rolling deck of a Fast Frigate at night in a storm launching and recovering a LAMPS helo count?

Why YES it does....:D:D:D:D
That would have been me peeking out the window:D:D:D:D

Well, after everybody I know has seen it, and told me to go see it, I did today. The 4 PM showing at my local theatre was just about sold out, and the guy selling tickets told me it's been like that since it opened.

I was really impressed with the way Tom Cruise addressed the audience and thanked us for coming to see it before the actual film started...very classy.

And I loved the movie! Great story, well-told, and even semi-believable in most respects. I won't post any spoilers here, beyond saying if you haven't seen it yet, you should. I go to very few contemporary Hollywood films, but Top Gun was definitely worth seeing. :)

I saw Top Gun Maverick a few weeks ago. It was a great movie. It was better than the first Top Gun but only because of the references and Easter eggs related to the first Top Gun. Hopefully sometime in the near future I can go see it again at the local I-Max with my grandson.

My grandson will be out of the Navy soon. He is/was an air crewman on an Osprey. He got to see Top Gun, Maverick in early May on North Island at the Premier. He said it was great and unique experience to see it with a bunch of Naval Aviators.

I always have to have a pic with my posts. My grandson and I share a birthday. I'm not sure I want to know how his crew could swing a training flight in their Osprey to Salt Lake on our shared birthday last year but it was the best birthday present I've ever had.
