Say goodbye to the white ash tree

The white ash is going down the same road as the American Chestnut. Will be gone forever in a very short time and there is no defense to save it. An insect called the Emerald ash borer is to blame. I have 7 ash trees on my lot and all are dead. I'll turn them into fire wood this spring. Sad day.

Missouri has been struggling with this for years. Moving firewood from affected counties has long been banned, but the hillbillies have trouble with the big words in the signs . . .

Nothing can be done according to the WV Dept of AG.

I'm in central Ohio and we're hearing the same thing. We're a few years ahead of you, they started getting hit a few years back. Sad deal for sure. Hopefully someone is holding on to a large stock of seeds so that when we figure out how to deal with the emerald ash borer we can start growing them again. Unfortunately that is a 50+ year program and it's hard to get people to think even 5 years ahead anymore.
