First post to forum, just purchased the SW9VE Pistol for $317.Live in Virginia .I shot 16 rounds through it,love at first shoot.Cant believe a Smith is going for such a low price.Anyone think once the weapon "catches on" it will go up in price, and perhaps some aftermarket accessories will become available? Thanks,George

Welcome 'bolt. As far as catching on, Sigma has been around for a while, I think I read a while back it is a best seller for S&W.

You are correct Sir!!

Selling like hot cakes as usual as the Nations Gun Show this weekend - but then again - everything is.

The place had an hour line to get in yesterday :)

Welcome to Sigma, welcome to forum. Love mine...don't feel price will go up, this is probably S&W's "intro" gun. I know I'm looking more & more at other S&W's since getting this one. Have fun!

gun dealer

Have to forgive me,the gun dealer the way he explained it was telling me the Sigma was such a disaster, his words .Smith was getting away from it. I just assumed it was at least a little diffrent.Looking back I think he meant they didn't want to attach the name Sigma to it.He gave me a lot of warnings like breaking it in with round nose bullets, not hollow points, and expect to jam.To me it was the best pistol ergonomics wise I've handled, and for the price I took a chance. Think if there were any problems they have been addressed
I would like to see a an extended slide release offered

Congrats on the purchase of your sigma!!! it should give you many many yrs of fine service!! if everything a dealer said was right we would all be in trouble lol :p

Welcome to the forums and to the Sigma. Bought my Sigma9 at Academy Sports 2 weeks ago yesterday for $299 plus a box of 50 Monarch 115gr FMJ for $338 total. 8 hours later the Sigma was on sale for $279 plus tax. Of course the manager could'nt tell me it was gonna go on sale. LOL. Got one of the last 2 there so i can't complain. All good.

I would have certainly asked for the refund of the $20.00. If none given I would have told him that was the last purchase I would ever make there and would let all my friends know not to purchase anything there!! I have always gotten a refund with a smile of their faces when I said that!!

Maybe i shoulda since i was there buying a $20 box of ammo. Mentioned it to the salesguy (not the manager who is the final salesguy at this Academy) who said sorry bout that but all sales start on sunday and run for a week. Knew they go on sale occasionally from saleslady while shopping there previously. Overall happy, just one of those kick myself in the butt moments! LOL

Glad to meet ya 'bolt. I just ordered a 9ve for myself at the range.

64

64 flawless rounds so far.It will be Monday I hope to go to set up a proper target and check mine and the gun's accuracy.Ill have to go back and tell the dealer I didn't follow his break in advice, and there hasn't been a jam either. He may sell the other two if he didn't bad mouth em' I bet .
I've done a pretty exhaustive Internet search and can't find any after market mags, just factory and I would like to have a different slide release. If anyone knows of anything please pass it on. Also any comments on the accuracy that anyone has experienced would be appreciated .I can't believe the gun I got for the money. Now if only S & W could come out with a 4" .357/.38 comparable priced revolver. Thanks,George

snow

I will have have to put off my testing my accuracy on a target due to there is a foot of snow on the ground here in my part of southwest VA.First one of the winter here. I did shoot to 2 more mags out in the woods near here and what "natural" targets I could find seem to be hitting them.No jams with hollow points or round nose.

Congrats on your Sigma.

If you keep in mind that the Sigma is an excellent defensive pistol and that the trigger gets smoother the more you fire it, you will no doubt be happy with it.

It is what it is, an affordable, reliable weapon that is safe to carry. Accuracy comes with dedicated practice.

I bought mine for exactly this purpose. And I am not disappointed.

Enjoy !

It does get netter with use.Using walmarts cheap ammo, and some remongton hollow points For my standards anyway the gun hit targets from about 20 yards. Also done 34 rounds rapid fire .After about 170 rounds no problems what so ever. How does Smith build so a low cost weapon ?

I have about 400 through mine with no issues. Great gun and made well. So far I had 5 different ammo ( one is +P) through it. I removed the pigtail spring (actually I lost it) and the trigger works fine. Still hard enough but smooth.

Also the accuracy is pretty good. Where I aim at (head, chest and torso on target) it gets there. That's at 25 feet and spread about hand sized.

The 9VE is a best buy for great quality and ergonomics...I've found out that a great inexpensive ammo for my 9 and 40 is CCI blazer aluminum case.Bought some at a gunshow a few weeks ago for 8.95 per 50 rd.box in 9mm.Enjoy and welcome!!
