Just wanted to ask about getting some details on this gun that i received from my grandfather estate.

also is it a collector piece?

serial # 45609 on the cylinder and bottom of the handle

top of the barrel cannot make out the #"s but has patient information.

Not a Schofield. You have a .32 or .38 cal top break double action revolver.
 
Welcome to the Forum. Your revolver is not a Schofield. Schofield was a 6 shot 45 caliber large frame revolver. You are showing a 5 shot, likely 32 caliber small frame top-break revolver.

If it is a S&W, it would be called a 32 Double Action, 4th Model made from 1883 to 1909. Overall there were over 300,000 32 DAs manufactured and, unless in pristine condition, they are very low value. I could only guess that your revolver is worth maybe $150 in the condition shown. Of course it should be a priceless heirloom, coming from your grandfather.
 
I have seen some knock-off S&W clones that were branded as "Schofield." Perhaps this is one of those.
