Well I'm ordering a QD scope mount for my nikon coyote special. The rings have a rail on top of them. Would you say to put a micro dot or a micro reflex dot on top.

Then on my Burris ar-332 should I toss a micro dot or micro flex dot on top.

Would it work to put angled fixed sights on the side of the burris or would it be to short of an area for the sights to work properly?

I have the rails on top of my scope mounts I just havent put anything on them. But you can put what ever you want, maybe a laser co-sighted with your scope. you could put the fixed sights on the angle but they would really be good for close up quick shots. "gangsta style"

Putting something on top of the scope will adversely affect the center of gravity of the whole rifle. If you want quick transition from magnified to non-magnified, get a scope that does that (1-4x). You'll be a lot happier with the weight of the rifle, and spend less money in the process.

When you go into the field, you already have an idea of what the mission parameters are, so you equip yourself accordingly. If you're expecting close-in action (out to 75 yards or so), you begin the mission with your red dot mounted. If you need to transition to magnified optics (and you brought it with you), you'll probably have enough time to operate a QD scope mount. Even so, a decent magnifier will probably work out better because a) the rifle is reasonably light when you're in CQB mode, and b) you don't have to remove the red dot in order to mount the magnifier.

I have an Aimpoint PRO red dot, and a Nikon M223 for distance stuff. I can switch them out in less than 15 seconds.

Consider this - if you're far enough way to need a magnified optic, you're probably far enough away to switch to a higher-power scope in a relatively leisurely fashion. Plus, in a zombie-rich environment, you really should be part of a 2 to 3-man squad so you have someone that can watch your back as you draw a bead on the zombi general.
