Scope for prairie dogs

Thanks, Jose. I like Bushnell products. Just looked up this scope [Bushnell AR Optics Drop Zone 223 BDC Reticle Riflescope with Target Turrets and Side Parallax, 4.5-18x 40mm] and it looks like a good one for $215. Wasn't aware of it until you suggested their AR .223 line. I live in rolling country, so we can usually get within relatively short range for dogs. 18X is probably more than I would need.

We got the urban Pdogs where I live.Pull up to a redlight...roll down your window and drop a brick on them. Can't shoot them and the City wont do anything unless it's totally humane thanks to Peta.I would suggest growing marijuana in the same fields as the dogs but you would probably get numerous lawsuits from people that broke an ankle in a hole while sampling the "crop".

Nope. Oneyeopn has that one in the bag.

I like the Bushnell AR Optics too. I just mounted one on my AR. It works great at the range. I can't wait to try it out on prairie dog.

wylie: What mount did you use for your Bushnell 4.5-18 AR scope? Did you leave your rear MBUS in place?

!

I used the Burris AR-P.E.P.R Mount. It works great! My groupings at 100 yards are tight. I put the rear sight down. It works fine.

If you're on a budget, my Uncle and I both picked up Nikon P-223 3x9x40s with the M-223 mount for our 15Ts. Cabelas has Nikon on sale and I got the optic and mount for right around $200 shipped. Shooting sub-MOA at 100 yards and have no trouble seeing woodchuck/prairie dog sized targets further downrange.

wylie: Is that the quick detach model PEPR mount? I can't tell from this side. The levers may be on the other side. I looked at that scope today at Walmart, and the eye relief seems to be about 3 inches for me. It looks like it could be moved forward a bit if necessary on your rifle. It's a heavy scope; should be solid and dependable.

Harrym it's not the PEPR quick detach... the eye relief is 3.7". I actually had to adjust the scope forward a notch after I got it to the range to zero it. There is plenty of room for adjustment. I believe it's a quality product. I'm going to hit up a 200 yard range soon to see how well the drop zone reticle works. I paid less than $300 for the whole setup. I think it's an inexpensive and quality optic choice for someone on a budget.

I heard oneyeopn has to drive over an hour to find prairie dogs that haven't heard of him. I also heard he prefers a HIGH magnification scope so he can see the whiskers twitch on a praire dog. Since I am a squirrel hunter myself, I tend to use a 22 rimfire and take only head shots. Well I hear oneyeopn takes only eye shots at great distances! :eek:Now don't ask me how I know these things as this is just what I have heard.:D Now some of you new guys don't know him but believe me when I say some of us old guys will never forget the simple man from Kansas. It's a shame he isn't on here more often.:(

Oneyeopn doesn't use scopes. He uses military satellites to wreak havoc on entire colonies of prairie dogs. In cooperation with a spotter, oneyeopn can poor in 22LR like artillery. Truly amazing.

During his time in the military, Oneyeopn was selected for project Eagle-Eye. His dominant eye was replaced with a bio-engineered eye that gives him the visual acuity better than that of an eagle. Oneyeopen doesn't need a scope. The one mounted to his rifle is there for show: it's just a tube with two pieces of glass. It's there because project Eagle-Eye is still classified.

The only reason I know is that I visited many a conspiracy theorist website and saw a grainy group picture of a group of test subjects allegedly from project Eagle-Eye, and recognized Oneyeopn.

I see UTG makes a QD offset mount for under $40. The local price for the Burris PEPR is $115. The PEPR is a more attractive mount. Design and finish are better. Anyone have experience with the UTG mount? The UTG [red dot] mount on my 15-22 has been fine. However, the stress from an AR15 is another story.

Save your $40 for something better. I have used UTG mounts and they have been OK, if you never move it. But, removing and remounting one is not something I'd do with a UTG mount. So, a QD is about useless with a mount that cheap.
