A couple of questions, please from the Long Time Lurker/New Poster about mounting sights.

My setup: S&W M&P 15 Sport, pure stock. I just mounted a scope, Bushnell 1-4x with circle plex reticle, e.g. [ Bushnell Banner Rifle Scope 1-4x 32mm Circle-X Reticle Matte ] I mounted it in UTG quick detach high rings. Obviously not a fighting rifle, but a really fun shoot. The rear/ocular lens housing of the scope required that I remove the stock (non-flip) rear iron sight.
So, here's my question(s): Since I'd like the BUIS, any idea if a flip up rear sight (Magpul, Troy, UTG, etc) would fit under the ocular lens when folded down? Or maybe a better question is how tall are the flip up sights when folded down? Similarly, would the solution be cantilevered scope mounts to move the scope forward, hopefully enough to get a rear sight mounted to the rail?
Any suggestions will be appreciated, and of course a less expensive solution is always preferable :-)

Thanks

Both the magpul and troy folding sights are a little more than half an inch when folded, as are most of them. Look in the product description, the specs are usually included. If you have high rings, I'm thinking that should provide enough clearance. (EDIT: magpul rear sight folded height = .51 in. Troy rear sight folded height = .46 in.)

Attached is a pic of a Troy rear folding battle sight beneath a scope that has a QD (quick disconnect) mount. I know that is not your set up, as you are using rings, but hopefully it helps to get some perspective. As you can see, the scope fits over it just fine, with a big enough gap to see light through easily.
