I’m new at red dot sights and scopes and need a little help.

My goal is to have my sites zeroed, but would also like to put a red dot sight or scope on my M&P15.

I’m looking for recommendations, pros and cons for both scope and red dot sight. In addition, I would like a recommendation of at least two types of each.

I’m assuming they both have different uses, maybe they don’t.

Thanks.

Really depends on what you will do/shoot with it

my Sport is mainly my Play gun... i have a Sight Mark reflex on it and LOVE it....
Shoot Mainly less than 50yds... but do shoot at 100yds as well....
Accuracy is awesome with the reflex.. and Target Acusition is FAST.

I do have a 3x9 redfield tracker on my Bushy Carbon15 when i want to REACH out and touch something

Lots of guys will give you Product options... but really depends on yer shooting Style as well as BUDGET

enjoy bud

+1 definately as Stavman said on the shooting style....my choice of a 6-24x50 just wont work for everyone but it does for me!!

The range I shoot at doesn't allow novelty targets (gongs/explosives/etc...) or rapid fire so I pretty much set out to shoot for precision accuracy and use a 6-24x scope...Even on a 100 yard lane.

If I could shoot plates I'd mount a red dot/holo sight in a heartbeat. haha

I have two Primary Arms red dots the M3 and M4 sights. They are great for the money. Their customer service is first rate. For range use or plinking they are hard to beat for the money. Many guys also like their line of scopes. haven't got one yet but I keep looking at them.

Once you decide on which one you want, red dot vs scope, I would look through all the pics and see which ones you like then go from there.

I have a Leupold scope 2-7 x 32 on mine that was on a different rifle and like it a lot. I am also trying a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x 40 with bullet drop compensator. So far I am leaning toward the Nikon which was 169.99 from Walmart.

Picked up an Eotech 512 a few weeks ago. Awesome! Five round group you could cover with a quarter at 50 yds!

Alan,

The EoTech sights are a good option. They offer speed and precision due to the reticle having a large outer ring and a 1MOA dot in the center. Their sights are battle tough and have a high cool factor too. :D They are priced accordingly.
