I managed to snag a very nice, clean 1935 Vintage Heavy Duty. 5". Very modest blue wear. Timed perfectly all around and everything tight. All markings are very sharp. Grips might even be original, I couldn't see anything inside of them in the light in the store but they look right to me. Got it for a tad under $900 out the door. I will post pictures when I get it out of the CA gun jail. Just wanted to crow a little bit.

I prefer the looks and feel of the 4" versions, but it is still hard to beat any 38/44. I have one that was shipped to the Pueblo, Co. PD in 1951. Hope you enjoy yours..

IIRC, stocks from the mid 1930s should have the serial number stamped on the inside of the right panel.

Heavy Duties make really nice .44 Specials!

There were some numbers stamped on the stocks, but my old eyes and poor light couldn't read them. Will check at home with good light and magnification.

If you find you are in need of a set of stocks, I have a very nice service style set from late 1933 as well as a set of pre-war magnas that are going to show up today.
