Scotch Drinkers

I am a single malt drinker and like everything about them except the price. I am wondering if anyone has experimented with adding some liquid peat to a plain blended scotch to try an emulate a single malt.
If anyone has what was the result?

What a great thread! Didn't realize there were still whiskey (of whatever persuasion) lovers in the world! When we go out, the server always mentions the "craft beers" they have on tap. This to a guy whose grandma would rub Four Roses on his 5-year old gums when he would have a toothache. I learned to have many toothaches...

One year, back in NYC, I won the basket of cheer at the bazaar at St. Monica's parish: four great bottles of whiskey, including a no-name single malt that tasted really good. Forget the name, but saw it only cost $16 in a liquor store.

The best Scotches available free (due to my play) at my casino are Johnnie Black and Chivas. Simply can't get accustomed to the taste of Scotch. Fortunately, Jameson's is also available, and even the standard grade is smooth.

Bottoms up, but let's not mix alcohol and gunpowder!

My favorite single malt is MacCallan 18, though it's out of my price range at the moment.....MacCallan 12 is good though. I loves me some Balvenie Double Wood and Balvenie Port Wood as well.

For blends, I like Famous Grouse Black or the old standby Pinch 15.

For daily consumption, I'll drink good ol' American Whusky...Makers or Turkey. And, as previously mentioned, Kraken for a very nice spiced rum.

Kracken is OK, but the best rums still comes from the Appleton estate and always will. Everyone and his brother now wants to release some kind of rum, especially spiced rum. Jimmy Buffet had the only "celebrity" rum for a long time. Now there are rums by crappy second tier country singers. I just don't get it. Most of those guys can't even spell rum.

They should be sponsoring rye whiskey and bourbons. That matches their personalities better.

Don't get me wrong. I like country music, but ONLY if you play the song backwards. That way at the end of the song my dog and wife are alive, my truck is running, I'm outta prison and that train never hit my cousin..........
 
It appears to me that to truly appreciate the perfect delicacy of Scotch, you must have Gaelic blood. Highland Single Malt is the best!
Can't be, I'm of German and Swedish decent. Single Malts from Islay are my preferred drink.
 
Years ago my wife and I went to a Robby Burns party held by my son's girlfriend's father, he was a judge with a taste for anything Scottish. He had a scotch tasting where my wife and I got a chance to taste just about every make and style of scotch made in the past 100 years, even some 100 year old stuff. I was also of the opinion that drinking scotch was like sucking on the end of a railroad tie. We tried The Glenlivet 12 year old and my wife was stunned, it is her favorite whisky and she even sips it neat. I like the Glenlivet but prefer something with a little more depth, I like The Bowmore.
Everyone should give the fine single malts a try, I used to prefer a nice neat sip of rye whisky like Crown Royal Reserve, and still do. But on the occaison where I want to really appreciate the fine qualities of a deeper flavored whisky I'll sip a little of The Bowmore.
 
My brother likes J black label........

a friend told me "Glen" has been filtered three times and it is hard to get a hangover with it....... but I don't drink that much, any way.

At my age I have to reduce my intake................to try and make the Doctors happy. They advise a glass of wine if I have to drink.
