SCOTUS Kills Bumpstock Appeal

Just a question.. How many have actually shot either a machine gun or any other full auto firearm. I have and can say it can be a lot of fun. That said I don't have a bumpstock or an AR "pistol". Don't want either but the gummit created the bumpstock issue and they should either accept responsibility or allow them to be considered a full auto and allow registration for free. Personally also I think any honest US citizen should have the right to own full auto firearms. Now to the other side of the issues. Full auto firearms are very good for certain things...war of course. But I can say I have turned quite a bit of money into a lot of noise in a very short time. Nothing like a Thompson or a BAR. . On full auto though they are very hard to shoot really accurately by the average person and they are very expensive to shoot . To buy also but that is the fault of the gummit. So I don't really need any full auto...but it's still really neat...if you can afford to shoot 'em

I have its a blast!:D Course living in NY state other than shooting a M16 it all happened out of state. (The M16 was the earlier one it did not have the 3 shot burst limitations.)

LOOOOOOOONG story but i was at the right place at the right time and got handed the M16 by that agencies chief of police and a 80 rounds of ammo. We rented our gun club to agencies and the Chief was a friend and shooting companion.:D

Going to Florida yearly I always hit a range or two and shoot all sorts of FAs. Thompson's, Uzzis, HKs Galil As a then big strong person I found I could control even the .45 Thompson rather well in FA fire. I had a very smooth trigger finger and could easily get off single shots when set in FA mode if I wanted to.

I did have a funny incident my first time on the range. A range officer carried the Thompson and accompanied me to the firing point.(This was early in the morning and I was the only shooter there!)

He asked a couple questions and when I said NY he got a bit upset. He started giving me all sorts of threats and warnings and wanted to know why I was shooting a FA. I replied first off I do not live near NY City I live way up north in the mountains, in a forested area.

I'm very familiar with guns and in fact am a range officer and NRA instructor at my large gun club.. He relaxed a bit then. Range rules which I agree with BTW stated that they wanted to watch you shoot a few semi auto rounds before they would let you switch to FA.

I made my bones, the RO relaxed and I blew away a serious amount of ammo as I rented 3 guns. 1-.45 2- 9mm that day.

Ours is an adversarial system by nature. If the Government regulates a certain behavior, people will immediately find loopholes. This isn't cheating, it's baked in to the system. If anything, it is an argument against gov't meddling because every new regulation only creates more loopholes. A better approach would be to have fewer laws, narrowly focused on specific issues.

The issue here is not whether or not you see bumpstocks as useful accessories. The issue is a gov't agency that has been empowered to make regulations that bear the weight of statute law, then change them on a whim. This is not the system our Founders intended for us.

I think I am totally responsible and if I want a Patriot missile system in the driveway then by God no government agency has the right to tell me otherwise!

Spoken like a TRUE American. I kind of agree with you. As far as ull auto stuff.. I don't think I have a problem with honest people owning full auto arms. As someone stated above I have shot Thompsons and find them controllable. BAR too. I had a Swedish K suppressed and it was the bee's knee's. A fellow down the road has a MP5 and it is really smooth. I've also shot AKs and while not a pretty firearm they DO work.

A serious question now...It hasn't been all thaaaat long ago that after someone did their time in prison...when they got out they could own firearms again. There is a move afoot to bring this up again. What do you think?... No politics. Do YOU agree or disagree with the idea??

The incompetence of US legislatures at all levels to enact regulations without loopholes has been a constant source of annoyance to me since coming here. Still, I should not too surprised as many in those legislatures are lawyers. Seems they feel that they have a duty to produce more work for others in their profession.:(

For non violent felonies? Sure, why not.

Having examined bumpstocks in the past, IMHO they are an answer to a question that was never asked. I have never desired one nor one of those crank in the trigger guard devices popular eons back.
Many people don't realize that full auto weapons are expensive and high maintenance not to mention all the legal hoops one has to jump through to get one if you even can.
I can appreciate them, but I personally wouldn't own one as semi-automatic is far more accurate and easier to maintain in my book. But I wouldn't deny the right for someone qualified to own or fire one to certain limits (GAU-8's, Oerlikons, Vulcans, etc are not qualified in my book).
I kinda lost my taste for full auto with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children and I saw the 0331's doing constant maintenance or tagging the guns on their M-60's.

If someone wants to pony up $100k for a Vulcan + more $$$ for ammo, I say more power to them!
"shall not be infringed" ;)

I always wanted an Oerlikon, just because I knew most of my friends couldn't say it properly or spell it. I know, I'm an evil little tyke some days.

The crackhead who breaks into your house while you're away, steals your guns, and leaves a present on your pillow has committed a non-violent crime.

No guns for him, please.

Never shot using a bump stock… Seems like more control then I am willing f to forfeit to shoot fast.
