As many of you know, I collect engraved S&W's. In order for me to add one to my collection, it has to "speak" to me. In general "Vasco" engraved S&Ws don't generally speak to me in more than a "whisper" (generally too "soft" for me to hear). BUT - this one screamed "Buy Me! Buy Me!" the minute that I first saw it. First, it is a model 27 - which always catch my eyes as one of the most elegant revolvers ever made and second, the full coverage engraving pattern and deep chisel execution is as nice or nicer than any other gun in my collection.
It is a 27-2 that shipped in Feb 1974. Per the factory letter, it was a "Special Order" that was shipped to J.L. Galef Co. in NYC "polished unfinished (in the white)" and at the Galef Company's request was "prepared for engraving".
Enough with the facts, here are the photos (which do not do the gun justice - as I could not post every cool feature and special touch on this gun):
Every square millimeter is covered in the same rich engraving style in a patterned theme that is unique, well thought out and perfectly executed.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for letting me share,
