screwdrivers

I have been putzing with guns for 50 years, understanding them for 30 and doing pretty good, quality work (for myself) for 20. I'll take Grace every time.

Jebstuart:

If you would like, you can PM me and make me an offer fro my complete set of Grace Browning Shotgun screwdrivers. They are in 99% condition and since I don't use them anymore, I'd love to sell them. I think I would like to sell one for Colt SAA's as well.

Thank you for the offer. I only have one Cirori 16 ga. Superlite that I shoot and have never had to turn a screw on it - I don't shoot my Sweet 16's or other Doubles (Scottish & Pin-Fire mostly), I just fondle them. I collect & shoot S&W and Colt (not SAA) and have all the Grace screwdrivers, punches, hammers, etc. that I could ever use. You should list them for sale here, if priced reasonably, I would think they would sell quickly. Good tools, priced right aren't hanging on every tree. Thanks again for the offer.

I bought my Brownell screwdriver set about 1985. I used them while I held my gunsmithing FFL. I have NEVER broken a Brownell bit and I worked on some rusty old guns over the years.

Still have the complete set.

I only recall breaking one (for a Browning A-5 which is SUPER THIN) and a quick call to Brownell's solved that as they sent a replacement out that day (no return of the broken one required).

I have a full Wheeler set, and I like it, there are a few size bits that need a little tweaking in the size department, but generally no problems. I bought a Brownells S&W short screwdriver with the three blades it comes with for S&W's. As most of you know, the slot on the side plate screws has changed over the years, and sometimes the little blade is necessary and sometimes the 2nd blade is necessary. I had an older model 10 (I think) that had a really stuck side plate screw, I "twisted" the #2 blad in the Brownells S&W set. It never moved from the slot, but the blade is very visibly twisted. Don't tell me Brownells blades are brittle.

You could have gotten a "lemon" - I suppose anything is possible. Just call Brownell's and they will ship you out a replacement.
