The mark on your holster is from Sam Myres' time in El Paso which was 1920-1953, and what he named The Tom Threepersons Style Holster from 1930 onwards was reconfigured in 1935 to this style that was for the FBI's new DA .357 Mags. The mark was replaced with a smaller one, then the larger one was revived in the late 20th century but construction details differentiate these from Sam's.

What do you reckon the non-standard sewing is for at the main fold; perhaps a piece of leather inside that is acting as a rear sight protector?
