I have only been in the handgun world for a couple months now but I'm national guard and have rifle experience. My shooting technique is a bit odd because im left eye dominate (right eye is horrible) but right handed. Whats the best way to fire to the pistol? I have read that firearms a little more forgiving on techique than rifles so I have been using a modified weaver stance that fires with my right hand and left eye.

Next, what is a good holster? I would like to get a medium priced on that mainly has good renention and can be concealed in pants. I have been seriously considering the blackhawk cqc but have read that renention isnt the best on it.

thanks!

With holsters, everyone has their likes.
Looking for Leather, kydex, hybrid? Single or double clip?
Tuckable?
You start with one and wind up with a holster drawer.

I will start by saying that for each handgun, I have a Remora for it.
Great for storage, transport or quick IWB.
SHTF Holsters are well made.
Alien gear are a bit cheaper.
Single clip, N82 are great but the Pro takes practice drawing with a slight twist.

Jerry Miculek has a video where he talks about stance. He is a pretty good shooter so worth considering. He, like Grant Cunningham, prefers holding the gun in the center front of your body, which implicitly uses whichever eye works best, rather than holding the gun in a straight hand-arm line that leads to your right eye (if you are right handed).

In any case, there is a lot to be learned from this guy!

By the way, thanks for your service in the National Guard. Two of my work buddies are National Guard soldiers up in Baltimore tonight... you guys do important service.

Blackhawk v/s Fobus

Polymer is my preference, inexpensive and durable. Seen several people shoot themselves fastdrawing from Serpa( BH). Bought one, good holster but prefer Fobus with retention screw.

I carry my SD40VE in a Raw Dog IWB holster. Also right handed/left eye dominant. I stand with my left foot forward and my body turned slightly to the right. When I aim, I hold the pistol towards my left side to aim with my left eye. Not as pronounced as it sounds, but it has worked for me for the last 30-35 years.

I have a Serpa for open carry and find that my trigger finger lands on the stippled finger locator on the frame. I have heard that if you draw from this holster the wrong way and your finger ends up on the trigger you could have a ND but couldn't that happen with any draw/holster? Just train to keep your finger out of the trigger guard.

I also have a tuckable hybrid holster for an M&P and it fits my SD9VE, SD40VE and even my shield. It is what I wear every day and it is very comfortable and well hidden.
