SD9VE Mag

i can fit all 14 in all 3 of my SD40 mags..... not sure why so many have issues. never had any with mine

I had the same issue with my Sigma 9mm for a long time then suddenly I was able to get 16 in but inserting it in the gun was another story. Lot of pressure on the release and the stripper ramp so I'd just do with 15 +1.

I heard a guy say that he likes to have all 16 rounds in his mag. If he cant get the job done with 15 rounds, he has one left for himself..... lol....

Not me...if I run out of ammo, I'm throwing the gun at the bad guy. That always works in the movies...right? :D

Recommended Ammo for SD9VE

I recently purchased the S&W SD9VE and curious on which ammo will run through this weapon the best. I've owned several pistols and mainly 1911's and through experience know that certain rounds work better than others. I also did a little reading up on the SD9VE and found that installing the Apex trigger spring kit will help the accuracy (+/- 9lbs to +/- 5lbs trigger pull). And changing the plastic guide rod out with a stainless steel helps since they are solid and will not bend or distort like a factory plastic guide rod. Not to mention a little extra weight under the barrel. This can help reduce recoil, which in turn equals less muzzle climb when rapid firing.

Any other mod's out there are welcome since I'm new to the smaller caliber pistols which I purchased for CCW.

I removed my plastic guide rod assembly in my .40 and compressed the spring with my fingers and didn't see any bending or distorting at all. I then compared it to my stainless steel guide rod in my 9mm and didn't notice any significant weight difference to suggest that it would change the recoil or the muzzle climb. I think that it is just preference and not necessarily improvement.

The spring kit on the other hand will reduce the weight of the trigger pull and it is noticeable.

There are two ways to load semiautos like the SD9VE...

1. With the slide forward
2. With the slide locked to the rear

If you have trouble inserting a fully loaded 16 round magazine with the slide forward #2 is an easy fix...duh..:(

Lock slide to the rear, insert fully loaded 16 round magazine, release slide...problem solved.

Welcome to the forum to both of you!

The 16th round will go in, but it's difficult at first. It gets easier as the mag gets some use on it. If these are new mags, load them up with 15 and keep them loaded, eventually #16 will go in. I was able to get 16 in mine (it's new), but I had to get mean with it at first.

Same here It was a royal pain in the rear to get #16 in my mags. Im going to buy a uplula loader to make it easier to load until the mags break in

I'v had mine for about a month now, my main mag holds 16 with no problems(after 2 weeks of using only that mag and going through about 75 rounds in it) but my backup mag that I have loaded with reloads will only take 15 even though it says 16 on the side. It was a bitch to even get the 15th one in. I didn't start putting 16 in my main mag until a week ago, but even then I don't keep either mags with more than 15 rounds in each one. No need to stretch the spring out if it's not used everyday. IMO

I can only fit 15, but I think even if I could get 16 in it, I would probably still only load 15. My American Eagle rounds come in a line of 5, so loading 15 just makes more sense to me, plus I have OCD.

After loading and unloading the new mags I am finally able to get the 16th round in them. But it still takes some effort.
