Stay away from all the aftermarket **** out there and just use and get used to the trigger. That pistol will not fail you.

I am going to have to disagree.

My friend asked me to put in the Apex replacement trigger and the Apex spring kit into his 40.

It made a world of difference!

So much so that when I got my 40 a couple weeks ago, the first thing I did was buy the parts for mine.

Made a world of difference in mine too.

Once you modify the new trigger correctly (it takes patience and there is no need to disassemble it every time you adjust it to test), it is smooth as silk and went from a 9.1 pound factory trigger to a 5.4 with a much much shorter pretravel

If that matters for you, eness, go for it.

I appreciate that dr. I typically look at forums as a place to discuss the topic, in this case the sd. When asking questions about specifics is met with a response like Willcoe gave, my question is what are we supposed to discuss here, our feelings? Cripes, I have a wife for that. I have ordered the Galloway trigger spring kit and the apex trigger, so I can update with results for any interested. I am not new to firearms, I paid 279 for this brand new so I don't feel 50$ in trigger parts is really ruining the budget. I have shot it in stock form, and I shot it well, but it does take considerable effort and discipline to manage your trigger control and I see nothing wrong with trying to improve that a bit.

I know what you mean about the price. I got mine for even less. $250 and about $10 in gas.

I keep reading criticism about people buying the trigger kits for the SDVE saying if you had wanted a better gun you should have gotten the M&P .

Well I have shot M&Ps and my friend and my SDVEs with the trigger kits, shoot far better than factory M&P for approx 1/2 to 2/3 the cost.

Take your time and you should be fine. When you get to where you need to file the trigger a little, the troubleshoot video shows exactly where but you don't need to disassemble it each time. With the gun assembled, just push the trigger blade safety in and take a flat needle file to the edge and corner (you will see what I mean) until it shoots smooth and the trigger breaks crisply at least 40,50 times in a row, testing it very often.

That is exactly what I did when I did mine. I didn't have to fine tune the trigger safety blade at all. The only spring I didn't change was the striker spring and I don't think I could be happier.
