SD9VE trigger safety catching

I have an annoying problem with my sd9ve. When I place the pad of my fore finger on the trigger and pull it, the safety feature doesn't cleanly clear the frame. It catches just enough to make a clicking noise as the trigger continues to collapse and the gun fires. I am not saying that the safety does not work. It does prevent the trigger from collapsing if the articulated section is not pulled. But 50% of the time it interferes with a normal trigger pull.

Now I know the first thing you would think is..... Stupid user error. However I own two sd40ve's and two sd40's. I don't have this problem on any of the others.

I put an apex spring kit on the gun before I ever shot it. I thought this problem might clear up after break in, but after 100 rounds it still done it. I had been wanting to try one of the apex enhancement triggers and thought it might cure the problem. Well... No go. I had to remove material from the new trigger to get it to fire as some others have. Now it is fireing, but the safety is still interfering.

If I have to send it in, will I have to remove the apex upgrades?

It's my understanding if you send it in you have to restore it to factory or your warranty may not be honored. I had the same problem you had on a newer SD40VE.(Aug. 2013 on the test shell) It may be a problem only on late models. I don't know for sure. I installed the apex spring kit first. Then ordered the apex trigger and installed it. I experienced what you did and it didn't sit well with me worrying about reliability. I elected to stay with the factory trigger and the apex spring kit.

Did you have the problem with the safety feature on the factory trigger? Or are you saying you had a problem with the apex trigger needing material removed?

I had a problem with the Apex Trigger. Not the factory trigger. I did have to do some sanding for the apex trigger to operate but I don't think that effected the trigger safety. But like you, using the apex trigger, if I didn't have perfect finger position on the trigger, the blade safety in the trigger would drag against the frame. I didn't like that at all. I prefer the factory trigger with the apex spring kit anyway.

Sounds sort of like when I had the M&P trigger, if I didn't have a solid trigger pull it would make a clicking noise/have a clicking feeling.

Blade Safety Drags Frame on Apex Trigger

I also am experiencing the Apex trigger safety slightly dragging on the inside rear of the trigger guard on my new M&P 9. It is minor enough to be considered a feature (ah, I know the safety is working), but if I can remove it I would like to. Not to belabor the obvious, but for those of you who have fixed this with sanding, exactly how did you do this, please?

I have the Apex FSS kit with the hard anodized trigger.

I would consult Apex.
They explained how to fix mine, But I went back to the factory trigger anyway. I have more confidence with it in combination with the apex spring kit.

Make sure you have your finger low enough on the trigger. When I let my finger get a little high, I get a little catch also. My finger practically drags on the trigger guard and have no problem.
