SDM gold bead

Doe anyone here have a SDM gold bead front sight on a SW revolver?hopefully a j Frame? Did you install it your self ? Likes? Dislikes?

This is the only J frame that I have with one. I have a couple N frames with them also.

I didn't install it but I stood there while the gunsmith did it. Pretty simple. Push the pin out and removed sight blade. Inserted SDM blade and held with a vise while drilling the hole in the blade in a mill. Stuck the pin back in. Done.

I put one on my 696 ...

I had it installed by a local smith. But if you have the tools and patience, there is no reason you couldn't do it yourself. I really like this sight and may install it on more of my flock.

I did mine DIY. S&W 27 moly coated with gold bead sight and better grips. The gold bead is really easy to pick up sighting.

I had a local gunsmith put a Gold Bead on my 625. Excellent sight. Will put it on more of my revolvers.

What height SDM gold bead sight did you use? I have a 27-9 and would like to put this sight on my revolver but I'm not sure which height to go with. I need something to draw my eyes to the front sight.

Not sure who thats posted to but my 27 I used the factory front sight. My gun had Trijicon tritium inserts in it when I got it. I was not a huge fan of them so I removed the vials and replaced the front with the SDM gold bead. I had to open up the hole diameter but it was easy.

Scott at SDM is my best bud and one of the best pistol smith's out there. His sights and accessories are top notch. I find it amazing with the price of gold that a small tray of gold sight inserts is + a grand. If that little nugget flies off the bench you WILL be looking for it and find it!
