I have a S&W "I" frame .32 long HE Regulation Police (Pre War) 1914 and I need a couple of gunsmithing tools for for correcting problems with the Yoke. The Yoke/crane needs to be aligned and I need the Yoke/crane alignment tool for that gun. I believe the "J" Frame is the same fit for the yoke. Brownell's has a "J" alignment tool but it is on backorder. However, also need a crane stretcher for the "I" frame and Brownell's only carries it starting with the "K" , "L", "N frame. They do not have one for the .32. I have tried endless searches but to no avail. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that may make these tools or someone that may want to sell these tools. I can't believe they stop carrying these tools at Brownell's? There are many of these .32's out there for repair but I guess the call for the tools are minimum. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

A yoke stretcher, if you don't want to take a ball-peen hammer to it, is nothing more than a small tubing cutter with the cutting wheel dulled to about 3/32 inch. "Rigid" makes them. The alignment tool, or home-made substitute, needs to be straight enough to center into the bolt hole AND provide anvil support when you tackle your stretching of the yoke. The only other thing is a narrow angle wedge (door stop). You can make one of those yourself.

The other part I need is not the crane stretcher, my mind was two steps behind me after pressure washing my driveway yesterday morning, but the other tool I can't find is a facing reamer for that .32 HE. Brownell's has one but for only K,L,N frames and that is on back order. Thanks for the response and yes Brownell's has the plastic wedge and that is the only tool that is not on back order. Guess, I will call S&W and talk to their gunsmith and maybe they can direct me to a manufacture that possibly makes the tools or get lucky with S&W may have one or two in stockl.

Hello, I'm not a gunsmith or a machinist but I have seen guided cutting bits before. I don't know the correct name but they cut a flat bottomed hole and have a cylindrical guide peg in the center of the cutting surface. Perhaps you can find one that will allow the guide to fit inside the yoke. I suspect all you really need to do is kiss the yoke surface to true it up.
