After a promising beginning and progress through Congress, it now appears H.R.367, the Hearing Protection Act of 2017, has been shelved indefinitely.
House Speaker Paul Ryan states that there are now no plans to advance the bill, even though a House panel had backed the bill just last month, and legislators had been expected to move forward on the bill.
Speaker Ryan added that he doesn't know when the bill will be scheduled for further action, but apparently doesn't see that happening any time in the near future...possibly not this year.
On a more hopeful note, Speaker Ryan says that if people are expecting this Congress to infringe upon Second Amendment rights, that "isn't going to happen."
