Security sign for my house

My guess would be that dog is as much of a potential liability problem as anyone's sign. Looks to me like he is being trained to be vicious. If I were a lawyer, I would be sure to search out this picture and present it as evidence that you are/were in possession of a vicious attack dog.;)

That has actually been tried twice and it failed. My dog is a highly trained Police animal as far as my State is concerned. In the 5 years I've had him he has never bitten anyone without being told to do so. And I take him to schools and let the kids play with him on career days. And as far as my home is concerned, it's posted "WARNING POLICE WORK DOG"He also has his own police ID, badge and badge number. When it comes to my home, if my dog attacks an intruder and severly mauls or even kills said intruder I cannot be held criminally negligent. Can I be sued civilly? Sure, but I can sue my neighbor if his cat poops in my garden.

No decals, bumper stickers, etc. on my truck. (I have often wondered how many of those "Protected by S&W" things have gotten the vehicles broken into.)

No signs on the house.

I prefer to keep a low profile (and keep them guessing).

+1 I also think that is the best approach. I've had numerous people whom I've know for years say, "I didn't know you were interested in guns!" when they finally found out I owned some. I plan to keep it that way, besides I don't like signs, stickers, or placards, or on my house or truck.

blah blah blah blah about signs and court....... honestly, point me to one single case. I hear this crap about "what the prosecutor would do" over and over and over again.........rant over

I don't have any of those stupid warning signs on my house. I like to surprise them.

I agree with the fact that these types of signs while with the best of intentions, can backfire on the owners. In this day and age of lawyers leading the charge, it would not take much for the wrong judge to see things the crooks way. Here in NY, with liberal judges being the norm in most places, I can see a sign like that leading to a "You wanted to shoot someone" type of scenario. Those 1-800 lawyer numbers on nearly every channel are just the worm on the hook for stuff like those signs.

As found out by the tobacco companies, bucket manufacturers and many others that it's the lack of warnings that fuels these lawsuits. I can see it now " Your honor the deceased had no way of knowing that invading this home could get him shot." Personally I don't have any of these signs but if I was a burglar or home invader I would steer away from homes that I know are armed. Hiding in the "closet" to ambush someone without warning could be interpreted as premeditation.

Along the lines of some of these posts,I am already out of luck since the opposing attorney will undoubtedly bring up the fact that I have a concealed carry permit and an 03FFL surely shows that I intended on committing an assault on the poor defenseless burglar...

I love the signs on this thread, but I would never have a sign outside my home, for the same reasons that I would never open carry even though my state allows it. The best part about walking around packing some heat is the fact that nobody knows you're armed until its necessary for you to defend yourself. If a potential assailant knows you're armed, his strategy to get to you will be adjusted accordingly and you will end up being at a disadvantage.

There is no such thing as a fair fight and survival depends on you taking the upper hand :)

Here's one more that I really like. For the record, I fall in on the side that would not put a sign in his yard. That said, I doubt it would be much of an issue in a state as gun friendly (and criminal adverse) as Idaho.

Father, forgive our tresspass`s, as we forgive our tresspasser,s ----

I wouldn't post any of the signs in my yard either, but sure would love them hanging by my reloading bench.

?Signs

Well I would never put a sign in my yard, I guess the SIG & IDPA,NRA, stickers on my car and house window, would give it away, One thing a few people in town do "Open" carry on there property, I won't. I don't like to brodcast the fact I am armed, and that I'm raking my yard with a XD .45 under my shirt, I want to play Stupid to a Dirtbag until he "Push's his Luck" (by Law) then he will see my "Point"...not letting him show up with a gun, knowing that I am too...Is not good..
